  there are great songs now..
  
  but they're not easy to hype and sell by the truckload to those whose attention-span is less than 15 seconds..
  
  people now go for the flash and hype... so crap with lots of bling get lots of attention... and disappear just as quickly..
  
  there are still great singers out there.. like Sarah McLachlan, Diana Krall, Gary Jules...
