It is said that when Confucius discovered music he forgot the taste of meat. Confucius is not the only inspired soul, because though he had the courtly music of the Odes, we have the beautiful, sensual and captivating tunes of Park Jung Hyun (Lena Park). Her latest album has dropped and there really is only one word to encompass it: Heavenly. Not only does she take her God-given voice and incorporate it perfectly with the music, but she accompanies it with such diverse and sensual lyrics that the listener is pulled out of their reality and thrown into the world of Lena Park.
Her greatest accomplishment with this album is that it is the first album in which she has made significant contributions to the production and cultivation of the album. And if this is any indication of her talents beyond her wonderful voice, then she will have an even longer and more prosperous career than initially thought. We were given a brief insight into the album with the release of her Japanese single, which the Korean version falls on this album, "Moon." The song was brilliant when first released, and it complemented by every other song on this album to elevate it even higher.
Every one of her albums is known for telling a story. The placement of the songs on the album is crucial to really understand what Lena is trying to convey through her music. This album is no different. This latest album, 'On and On,' is a story of redemption, of new beginnings, and of changes. She begins the album with a simple 'new age' meets choir concert song that signifies the curtain being raised and the show beginning. Then with the start of her second song, "Beautiful You," it is as if she appears to us and the audience is drawn into the world. It begins the rising action to the album, to the performance of a lifetime, and as each song passes the passion and intensity only increases. Each song possesses a distinctiveness that distinguishes it as original and as a 'Lena Park Classic.' This song, though a bit more 'popish' than traditional Lena, it is exciting, colorful, and a cultivation of relief and brilliance all tied together. This song closely mirrors a later song, which signifies the falling action in her album and performance, "If It Is Today," that also has a very exiting flavor to it and that marks a changing point in the album.
It is easy to comment on every song individually, but the truth is that it is almost impossible to talk about the album without any one of these songs. Each song adds to the album a new feeling and a new point of view that was once kept hidden in Lena's mind, in her soul. Through her magnificent voice, ever present and ever captivating, the music comes to life and surrounds us; we can see the vibrant colors surround our bodies as we interact with them. We can have many artists that sing ballads, rock, pop, and any number of musical genres. But what makes an artist truly talented and truly brilliant is their intuition. From any given album we can remember maybe a few songs and remember vaguely the feeling of the album. Yet with Lena Park, and a selected number of Korean artists, we always remember the message; always remember the feeling, because we are part of it, part of what she creates. She possesses a craft that many know of, few can explain, and even fewer have. Confucius was wise to say that music is innate in all of us, that it lives and affects us all. Lena Park really does epitomize this wise sage's words in ways that many will experience, but few can master.

Singer se7en plans to get a tattoo...
"Should I get a tattoo?" --se7en
After se7en's "yuhl jung" promotions, soon follows the promotions of his other song, "moon shin" (meaning tattoo). This song states: "I want a tattoo too!"
Some of se7en's friends had their tattoos done and shared their stories with him, also reassuring se7en that it doesn't hurt that much to get a tattoo done [a/n: what are they talking about? 0____o tattooing is literally burning your skin!]
As said by one of the YG staff, se7en plans get his tattoo done after the "moon shin" activities. Sources state that he will be getting the tattoo when he leaves for LA on October 16th, 2004.
However, se7en's family and his hyungs from YG are having doubts about se7en's decision. Some of the YG singers who had their tattoos done are telling se7en that it will be quite difficult to get the tattoo removed after it's done. Also, they strongly stated that a tattoo will not match with se7en's pure and innocent appearence. Even with all their persuation, se7en still has plan of getting his tattoo.

SEOUL, Feb. 11 (Yonhap) -- From the Confucian era to R&B pin-up Usher, South Korea's traditional dress, or "hanbok," refuses to die out and is slowly metamorphosing into a symbol of Korean 'cool'.
Nicholas Cage and Britney Spears have one. So does Jackie Chan. Ex-pats in Seoul love them or hate them. And with Koreans abroad earning kudos for their retro threads, the colorful gowns are increasingly kicking the kimono off the costume party shelf.

BYJ diary, 'Joon 2005' receiving applications from 15th

BYJ fans could live one year with official diary 'Joon 2005'
The diary with BYJ's photos will be issued in Japan. In the afternoon on 11th, BYJ's agency in Japan, IMX, made a public notice that "we will sell diaries, second in a series of official BYJ products, for members of BYJ's internet site in Japan."
This commemorative diary named as 'Joon 2005' has a characteristic of containing BYJ's actual passport photo. IMX revealed the behind story of production, "after agonizing what kind of special gift we could present to fans, we put BYJ's actual passport photo."
On the last page of the diary where one writes personal profile, they placed BYJ's photo and made possible for fan who owns the diary to wirte personal profile in the remaining space. It is the compact sized and total of 256-paged in volume. The price is about 1,890 yen (about 19,000 won).
The cover of the diary produced in leather has 3 colors, red, orange & kakhi. Also holidays of Korea and Japan are shown simultaneously and all the writings are written in Korean and Japanese at the same time so that it allows Japanese fans to study Korean languages. The diary could be used from March this year to March next year.
They will accept application from coming 15th until end of April through homepage, and as they do not limit the quantity, quite a lot of sales amount seems to be recorded. It will begin sales from the 23rd.
Continuing on, the IMX explained in very detail on the diary, "we recommended 'Joon 2005' for people who want to study Korean language or who wants to know more about Korea. the 'Joon 2005' consisting of yearly, monthly, weekly memos, address book, personal data page, etc, is written in both Korean and Japanese," and added, "as it is a compact size convenient to carry, you are able to contact with Korean Langauge easily through diary you use daily."
Also, it concluded, " as 'Joon 2005' has calendars of both countries of Korea and Japan, one could know memorable days and holidays of both countries so that one can widen knowledge in Korea. Lena Park: Mooning On
R&B Queen Lena Park released her 5th album called "On&On" on February 3. This is her first album in two and a half years after her highly successful 4th album sold 400,000 copies. This is also the first album Lena Park took on the role as producer which unlike her previously heavy R&B filled albums displays serious forays into other genres. She also wrote and composed a record of 5 songs including the introductory track "Ode" and "Future" for a total of 14 tracks. The title song "Moon" is a one of her typical strong ballads this time featuring Chinese instrumentals. The album was originally scheduled to be released in the summer of 2004 but was delayed after Lena displayed disatisfaction with it. "I wanted real progress in the music," said Lena who decided to keep the grandeur scale of the 4th album while emphasizing a strong and bright beat. The album jacket are filled with photos of Lena backpacking in the Arizona deserts. Lena Park who put out her first Japanese single last November is planning to do activities both in Korea and abroad throughout 2005. For a review on the 5th album, look at the first post.
New releases: Boa will release a Japanese best album on February 22. It will include all her Japanese hits including "Valenti," "Shine We Are" and "Double." It will also include Boa's version of "LA¡¤LA¡¤LA LOVE SONG" as a bonus track. Also rap artist Eun Ji Won is slated to release his 4th album on February 23 with title track called "All Famy."
Japan Crazy: Bi will release his first Japanese album "It's Raining" on February 16. He will start promoting it on February 21 with a live Tokyo performance. Meanwhile Seven will release his first Japanese single album on February 23 with title song "Hikari." The album will also include "Crazy" which was released in December in Korea as a digital single.

Dong Bang Shin Gi Returns to Korea

The members of Dong Bang Shin Gi, who are currently staying in Japan preparing for their Japanese debut, have quickly returned to Korea and are spending their time with the blind.
DBSG promised to present the blind with 200 jumpers in Kwangju, Kyungki Do at the beginning of the month and made their way back to the city on the 16th. Lee Hae In, the nun who introduced DBSG to the place, was also present.
On this day, DBSG helped serve lunch to the blind and also spent time eating and chatting with them. They also helped feed those who were unable to eat by themselves. The blind touched DBSG by performing DBSG's "The Way U Are" at their talent show. In response, DBSG sang "Whatever They Say" (acapella) for them and presented them with scholarship money.
Dong Bang Shin Gi will leave for Japan again on the 19th.

she was talking to her mother and brother, whom she lives with when she went into her room and did not come out for an hour. her brother finding this weird went in to her room, then her dress room to find her having killed herself by hanging herself from the movable clothes-hanger with a belt around her neck. a knife was also found by her bed with blood marks and slashes around her wrists, evidence of her attempt at suicide.
a letter that read "mom, brother, i'm sorry" and "even though i am living, it doesn't feel as though i'm living" was also discovered.
the police are currently trying to find the cause of her suicide..

“April Snow” Starring Bae Yong-jun to be Shown in 10 Asian Countries

The movie “April Snow” starring Bae Yong-jun will open, perhaps concurrently, in 10 Asian countries in coming September. The distribution company of “April Snow” said Feb. 24 that it has already signed contracts with Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore and Malaysia, and is currently in talks with Thailand, the Philippines, Indonesia and other Asian countries. The company said movie distribution companies in these countries want to release and promote “April Snow” concurrently with Korea.
"Each of these countries plans to market the movie according to our schedule. We have devised a detailed plan for holding press conferences for foreign journalists and launching a tour around Asia prior to the movieÂ’s release," said a person close to the company.
”April Snow,” whose filming began on Feb. 4 in Samcheok of Gangwon Province, stars Bae Yong-jun and Son Ye-jin in the lead roles. It portrays a man and a woman who, after being betrayed by their former lovers, fall in dangerous and heart-wrenching love with each other.

S.Korean Dramas Make Up 25% of Foreign Programs in China

Productions from South Korea accounted for a quarter of the foreign dramas and movies shown on Chinese television for the past two years thanks to the South Korean pop culture boom in that country, a state-run tourism promotion agency said Tuesday.
According to the Korea National Tourism Organization (KNTO), China aired 359 episodes of South Korean dramas and movies in 2003 and 2004, which made up 25.4 percent of all foreign dramas and movies shown nationwide during the period.
Fifteen films and 17 dramas, consisting of 15-20 episodes each, from South Korea were broadcast during the two years, the agency said.
Among the foreign dramas and movies, the number of South Korean productions ranked second to those of the United States, which had 487 episodes of dramas or movies or 34.5 percent of the total. It was followed by Singapore, the United Kingdom and Japan with 8.9 percent, 7.9 percent and 5.5 percent respectively.
The KNTO said it plans to draw more Chinese tourists to the country via the South Korean pop culture boom, also known as the 'hallyu' (Korean wave), and carry out film commission business, which helps local movies or dramas from China and Southeast Asia to be filmed in South Korea.
"Last year a TV drama, 'Winter Sonata,' attracted as many as 270,000 foreign tourists to South Korea along with tourism income of 300 billion won ($298.2 million)", said a spokesman of the KNTO.
'Hallyu' began in China in 2001, spread to Southeast Asia and has recently made a strong impact on Japan with the broadcasting of popular South Korean TV dramas like 'Winter Sonata'.

The date has been set for Ja Rule and Bone Thugs-n-Harmony's first Seoul performance. Fans who want to see the popular hip-hop artists should make sure to be at Olympic Hall (located in Seoul's Olympic Park) this Friday and Saturday night.
Ja Rule, the gruff, gravel-throated rapper from Queens, has been getting the attention of hip-hop lovers world wide ever since contributing a verse on Jay-Z's “Can I Get A...” and then releasing his debut, “Venni Vetti Vecci,” and follow ups “Rule 3:36” and “Pain is Love.”
Cleveland-based Bone Thugs-n-Harmony, with their signature quick double and triple-time sung and rapped harmonies, emerged onto the hip-hop scene with “E 1999 Eternal,” a smash hit album, which spawned a string of hit singles, such as “1st of the Month” and “Tha Crossroads.” The crew has since earned multi-platinum record sales and a Grammy.
Local artists, Rain, Ok Joo-hyun and Paige will also take part in what is expected to be one this yearÂ’s hottest concerts. Proceeds will go to help orphans and the disabled.

Lena Park to Release a new Album In Japan

She first starred in the song for the 2002 Korean-Japanese World Cup titled "Voices of Korea and Japan." Park Jung Hyun (Lena Park) plans to first re-release her 2nd album in Japan and also a new Japanese single around in May. Moreover, she will also release a Japanese version of her 5th album 'On & On', under the album title of "Beyond the Line."
Woot woot!!! Another debut to look forward to!!! For those who can't wait to get hold of her 5th album, try going to Japan or Korea to purchase the original copy. It's very nice!!! Her voice is crystal; singing is superb.

Bi (23) and Kangta (26) are male leads in a drama that is planned to air on May 2nd. Both fall in love with an older woman in their respective dramas.
Bi and Kangta are appearing in MBC TV "Cruel Love" and KBS 2TV "LoveHolic" respectively. They are playing the roles of YongGi and Kangwook and are competing in acting not singing.
Kangta debuted as H.O.T in 1996 and gained lots of popularity. Bi debuted in 2002 with his 1st album and in 2005 at the MTV Asia Aid he recieved The best popular singer award. He kept his popularity in the music industry.
But Kangta debuted 6 years earlier then Bi and when Bi debuted H.O.T broke up and Kangta went solo as a ballad singer.
In May on Monday and Tuesday at 10pm, both Bi and Kangta are playing the same character. Both love older woman and they don't believe in love.
Kangta's drama "Love Holic" is going to air after "1829". The drama draws a story of a teacher and student's love. The teacher is played by Kim Minsun and Kangta is the student. The filming of this drama started on the 3rd.
Kangta appeared in a chinese drama last year "The Magician" but in Korea this is his first drama. Kangta goes to jail for the teacher he loves and reunites with her in 5 years.
"Cruel Love" is airing on the same day as "Love Holic." Bi has everything because his father has a hotel business. He plays a cold character that is opposite of him. He was born with a love that was forbidden so he doesn't trust any women and always draws his mother and is rough.
Just like Kangta, Bi's partner has not been decided yet.
Loveholic is going to start filming in Kangwondo and Cruel Love is going to film in France.

FIN KL IS COMING BACK AGAIN
The 4 female group Finkl is coming back after they broke up 3 years ago.
In April, Finkl will work on their digital single album along with the music videos. DSP Entertainment says "Announcing their comeback is the best way to make a return".
The last time Finkl were together was May 2002 with their 4th album. It has been 3 years since then. During that time, Hyori, Yuri, LeeJin, Ok Ju Hyun they have been either singing solo, acting in dramas and many other programs. After Hyori did her 3 Leaf Clover drama they were goin to come back.
Hooray! Fin KL is coming back. But then.. what about SES? They have broken up too...
I wish they come back as well.

7th Anniversary of ShinHwa's Debut

It's ShinHwa's 7th anniversary since their debut.
ShinHwa's management Good Entertainment put a comment on their homepage on the 24th saying, "Today's ShinHwa's 7th anniversary since they've debuted. I hope ShinHwa ChangJo who stayed with ShinHwa for these long years will celebrate with ShinHwa, and we thank ShinHwa and ShinHwa ChangJo."
ShinHwa debuted on March 24th, 1998 with their 1st album and title song .
7 years is not a short time. Especially for a dance group to stay together for 7 years is an astonishing amount of time. That's why their 7th anniversary means so much more. They never had a member leave the group and get a new member, they stayed together for 7 years and that's why ShinHwa shines.
Even though ShinHwa did not have any special events planned out for their 7th anniversary, but the fans will be happy because of how each member are working hard.
Eric's new drama made its debut on the 23rd, getting a lot of love, and Lee MinWoo's single that was released on the 10th dominating the charts, is making the fans all very happy.
The group ShinHwa is succeeding by doing group activities together and doing solo activities. ShinHwa is opening the doors for younger stars to become megastars and we'll be looking forward to what they have more to show.
