can any old bird give some tips or share experience when you dont know all the roads and coping with the stress when driving first time?
I already passed the tdvl and waiting to collect license. Now doing self study at home on singapore roads, estates, expressways. And i find it overwhelming to absorb everything.
Now feeling nervous and scare i won't be able to meet the expectation as a taxi driver.../stress

very recent only. Oct 5-6.
Took test last fri and passed.
I feel that making the first step to drive is tougher than passing the tvl. lol
Just thinking about which new tvl offer to take up or become relief already give me headache. Not to mention the pressure of going into a new trade. :(
Yes. I am also hesitating. The new tdvl offer is really tempting.

No need to learn all the roads lah..you can never finish learning. Once you start, all forgotten liao.
If want to learn, just learn all the expressway entrance and exits. Housing estate can never finish one. Like pax tell you Blk xxx, Yishun St xx. You mean you will know meh? Just need to know general direction to get to Yishun can liao.
If you have GPS on mobile, just key in the Blk no. and Street name to know where the block is in Yishun esp where to enter the carpark entrance. Some blocks street name is Yishun Ave xx, but actually enter the carpark by Yishun St xx. If reach Yishun and dunno, just open mouth and ask Pax.
Many lau TDs who don't use GPS will head to the estate. After that, they will ask whether to turn left here or turn right there.
I use "One Map" to find exact block location. It shows the HDB blocks and carpark entrances. Google oso got, but I find One Map clearer. For general route to get to destination, I use google map if I am not familiar. But I dun blindly follow the route every step of the way. Just know the roads to get to destination and then off my phone liao.
Thanks bros for the guidance. :)
correction Taxi driver r 10咀 10股
dont hear go try...never try never know
Very true what bro taxilim say,no td can know all the places in Singapore.
From sembawang to east coast park , simei and bedok. Which route is better, faster? TPE PIE ECP or CTE PIE towards changi exit eunos to east coast park? How about simei? Any better routes?
Sembawang rd >Yishun Ave 2>SLE>CTE>PIE>KPE>ECP.
Dun go by Eunos lah.. too many traffic junctions. You know Still road is not called Still road for nothing. Traffic always at a standSTILL!
But remember hor...shortest route may not be fastest. Fastest route may not be shortest. Open mouth to ask pax if want to go by CTE/TPE etc esp for long routes and multiple ways to go destination. Usually 99% of the time, pax will say go by fastest way which usually require using the expressways.
Of course, dun be kuku like if go from Orchard to Yishun, instead of CTE, go by ECP>TPE>SLE hor.
Ok! Thanks alot for the info!
old bird knows best
I always ask pax even route straight forward. In case they have their own route.
Kena before from vivo to yishun dun want to go via CTE...
As a passenger, i would prefer td to ask for preferred route too. But recent two taxi trips didn't ask me. One sounded a little unhappy when i directed him another route.
Anyway, from vivo to yishun, i personally prefer to go by queensway then lornie , upper thomson... i cheapo mah.
