driving bus pays better? what kind of bus?

i see u everywhere. try doing it part time first.
OTOT jobs ain't for everyone, esp so if u are not the desciplined type. OTOT also means irregular income.
U do lose out on being a employed salaried person, such as AL, bonus, employee CPF etc, but for your housing loan, u'll need to top up cash. or pay by cash, or self contribute CPF (not so popular option)
Ya lor. I everywhere post msg hopefully to get more info and advices. Lol! Too eager to know abt td experiences.

Taxi driving is not all fun. On the contrary, there is very little freedom esp if you have family to feed and housing loans to pay. Dun see those Ah lau TDs like bowah at the coffeeshop enjoying their kopi. They are retired and got nothing better to do.
You may think you have freedom, but you start everyday in debt already and sometimes take more than half a day to cover your debt. Sick also must drive. So, for a TD, your freedom comes at a price of about $5+ an hour.
Still, if you believe you will like it, then go ahead lah. Don't think so much.
Thanks for your sincere advice! iI keep hoping to hear positive things abt being a td because i wanted to escape from my current job and quickly secure a job as td. Haiz
Seems like Td is more suitable for retiree who has lesser or no financial commitments.
Like all jobs got good and bad. Some drive for a day and give up. Some drive for 30 years. Depends on ur character lah. And dun forget to leave some pax for bo tak chek lau unker TD like me to tan jiak hor.
i always thought that td job is carefree, no need to work under boss supervision, no office politics, get to explore new places in spore, get to eat food at different places, can run errands whenever they like, sometimes can drive back to parents place to visit them or drive them out for makan or outing, etc....
I always hope i can drive 12hr day shift on 5 wkdays and rest on wkends. But if i dun want to be a hirer, i thk it is extremely difficult to find one suitable hirer near my place snd willing to let me drive day shift and only 5 days. And i always worried that if i am just a relief driver, i can anytime lose my job if hirer dun like me or if we cannot get along.
Apart from some luck, Old birds td definitely knows how to drive much smarter than newbies. So income will be better driving shorter hours i guess.

let put it this way if LTA increase bus fare by 2% and have every 5 to 8min a service come on time. i will not mind paying the fare. of cos for this to happend LTA have to rebuild the bus lanes and make buses skip traffic lights anf junctions. and for that if the driver salary increase it will be good for all. now how much a seinor driver getting?? $4k include OT??

5 days weekdays can find hirer lah. Nowadays, with the rise of Uber and Grab, it's a relief market. Many hirers cannot find relief as all go drive for Uber n Grab. Unless u live in an atas area like Orchard Rd, should be able to find a hirer within a 5km radius.
Oic. Gald to hear that. Hopefully can find day shift as a relief. Besides cabby.sg, any other websites i can advertise ?
Haven't u seen td drv until white hair or no hair?have lots of health problems like diabetes, high blood pressure or heart diseases? Lack of social interaction make them all lose their social skills with few friends left.
Join Comfort lah. Has the most taxis and easier to find hirers. Comfort has a matching portal that gives a list of hirers looking for relief around your area.

Even the PM with the best medical care available can faint during a rally, what more a TD. But it's quite true lah because you sit whole day. Also most TDs anyhow eat outside food and smoke a lot. So it's due more to their lifestyles and habits rather than the job itself.
Like that quite jialat leh.. Really got to think twice. More cons than pros being a td. I didn't thk that far so all your comments are valuable to me. I will sign up with comfort if i decide to drive. Heard from my tdvl course mate that his td relatives are all complaining that their income are badly affected by private hirer. Just to share , tdvl full time course only two days and can apply skillfuture susidy by govt. i only pay $50 for the course materials. It is worth get tdvl for standby.
Can j know if i sign up grab / uber as a comfort taxi driver, do i need to pay 20% of the fare to them? Or i just pay 40 cents booking charge?

if u are stressed and hard up for $, u can still drive, but u need longer hours to see huge income, and soon fatigue and occupartional hazards will appear. and some bad days, its beyond your control, it'll add stress
those lesser commitments, more relax kind can take their time to drive around, collect fares, see which fancy place for a meal, coffee, or shopping, just go..

No leh. When becum TD, you are likely to see this.
Yup. I read many negative comments abt being a td. Life of a td must be tough. Nevertheless, i will still give it a shot as part time. Hopefully taxi driving can make me a more disciplined person. 😬
