Just go and be a weekend relief or super relief first. Renting car for two weeks or one month, still need to commit a sum of money and under pressure to drive everyday cos rental keeps clocking.

I personally feel that PHV is suitable for very short term. If long term, taxi should be a better choice.

Best is forget about it lah, whether be PHV or cabbies, also jialat. Population is stagnate, economy is down, expatriates returning home, formerly 28 thousands taxi serving, now 28 thousands + another 48 thousands PHV, you think still got meat???

Any idea what's the insurance excess/ coverage for grab and uber?

PHV is under commercial insurance, the excess will be double taxi PHV is either you rent out a car or you use your own car. Rent out a car, servicing is done by the rental companies Own car, of course you service at your own cost lah. Rent out a car liabilities that you hv to follow the rental rules, and of cos, pay the rental that include the insurance and servicing cost. Own car is a sunk cost, meaning you already, be it installment or fully paid, you already committed the cost, it is a depreciating asset to you, so inorder to utilize your asset into $$, you can join Uber or grab to make use of your asset (your car) to churn some return. Servicing and insurance is under you. Because Singapore car can operate only 10 years, before renewing COE, it can be wise to use it instead of parking whole day at home, most private car owners, especially man, use it to run lion from their wife.

ya man, taxi your fault, $2000, first warning...base on cdg regulation PHV hit, can be $4000 to $6000 depend on the company you rent, and if it is your own car, you hv to convert yr insurance to a commercial one, which is expensive by a few hundreds, and if you hit at own fault, next year, your premium go sky rocket more than 50%. Me still waiting for PHv to kiss my back, So far, only got one pHv slight hit my rear bumper, limpek ask for $500, he gong gong also give...lols

If using own car commercial insurance is around $2500-2800 max 20% NCD so it'll come to about $2240, excess is $2000 named driver and $3500 any driver. If no driving can rent out the car to someone else who drive U/G.

IMHO it is crazy and somewhat insane to invest in new car for U/G factor in countless of possibilities, pls do a risk assessment before committing. Those kind of possibilities is like talk till cow come home also no end...

Hi All,
I'm new to SGForum, and I can't find a recent thread on Traffic offences/summon.
Anyway I am a seasoned driver I passed 10 years ago when I was 18, and I have a fairly clean record.
Recently, my parents (who also have clean records themselves) and I have been recieving summons, for quite ridiculous things.
For one, I have been driving along the Holland Village Flyover for many years without a problem, and suddenly I received a speeding ticket for crossing 10km/h which is 4 demerits.
Now, out of the blue, I received another summon for Failing to conform to red light signal - $200 fine and 12 demerit points
Its at the Holland Ave x Taman Warna --> Commonwealth road (the traffic light opposite Holland Village Shopping Centre where you turn right at Pedestrian crossing)
Funny thing is that I dont have ANY recollection of any camera flashes, or even turning when it was ember.
It was literally a quiet peaceful day, I was getting a coffee at baker & cook and driving home I wasn't in a rush or anything!
I don't know if I should appeal?

No point appealing,new law,must appeal online.also they only consider emergency cases like sending a person to hosptal but must have prove of medical chit.others all no need to appeal,they wont entertain.

Right, last time I send the dead to Marymount Kong Meng San, also kenna at lornie traffic light, then appeal, passed, but give me one final warning -

Taxi coy is created to make profit from you, not the other way round NTA is an association, not a Unions, an association is defined as common trade/people coming together with a common interest so as to learn, gather and gain from any govt intiatives, not a union that can protest and fight for your right hor. Govt, ...you know, I know lah
