as per news report a couple of weeks ago, taxis is 27k. PHVs is 47k and still growing, u say leh ?

once PHVs are regulated, laws will change
tampered free marking need to be on the PHVs, which also means they are easily spotted
with declining taxis and growing PHVs, PHV stands may be built
a lot of advantages that taxis have over PHVs now will be less significant, thats for sure

I guess some of them are unemployed so to tide over this period, some just just want to try out since short contract, Some of them like to own a private car, some feel embarrassed to drive a taxi, some thought easy money, etc. Therefore the numbers are growing.

I feel that private car pax are more demanding than taxi pax. I so green horn, later very stressful immediately throw back key. For Taxi , if i really dunno how to get to destination, i can try to politely reject.

One pax shared with me recently. She took a pirate and put NUS. The pirate asked her where is NUS? She thought he doesn't know the route. But she found out he has not even heard of NUS. He must have been from Mars.

PHs spend most time looking at apps and GPS so no energy and time to learn routes and landmarks.

PHD will eventually learn, just like newbies cabbies, starting time, all very excited and learn here and there, then see cash flow in, very happy, like first time see a nake woman, chiong here and there non stop, then after few months, sian liao..start to kpkb this and that, start to wonder if they are slave of the industrial, start to weight the differences, start to look for other opportunities, start to get weaker, look older and more health problem including hair dropping and so on. And that is also why, PHD keep promoting both to paxs and drivers, because they need the constant flow in of peoples due to high turnover, especially those gong kia who think driving brand new car seibei satki is going to suffer badly later. So, for the youngs, instead of pursuing high career that will give them a better future, many of these gong kia take the easy way out by joining PHD that promise them.. 1. You become a boss immediately 2. You have a brand new car to drive immediately 3. You are in control of your own life 4. And a bogus 6.5k pay

Now everytime at traffic light junction,feel like being surrounded by PHD,especially if they have handphones mounted with google gps on,n paxs sitting at the back.DRIVER emotionless n quiet.sometimes paxs look Indian n drvr look like SOME young punks.

Of course lah, there are about 48,000 PHV and 27,000 taxis, roughly 1 is to 2 liao, and more taxi drivers are throwing key, whereas more are joining PHD, and taxi is slowly going down, There are another group of PHVs that had found their own niche in the market, they are building their own client base, give name cards and so on, indirectly, diverted Uber and Grab to do private booking without any fares being deducted by Uber and Grab. And that is a lot of saving. This is a loophole that UG missed on their drivers. Smart people like my ex chief and CSM will resort to such method to tap on the weakness of Uber and Grab system. Once you hv a client base, ho say liao, people will call you directly, and your group will dispense the job to anyone available, another durian head in the forming. What to do, once you pay them peanut, you get monkey business blooming here and there.

U/G still can make good money. Still bringing home 4K-5K cash a month after all expenses with relaxed style of driving as compared to my taxi driving days. Those days are really hell as an OMO. 生ä¸�如æ».

Anyway, at times, we or our family members are also paxs, and very obvious, people will go for the cheapest + promotion, it is a buffet spread for paxs. Sometime, after driving my casket, I also call uber and grab when their price is low and got promotion, and best is, if lucky, can get chio bu driver...taxi drivers mostly lau kok kok...

Thinking of renting car for two weeks or one month to try out grab or uber. Some days can use the vehicle for my day job and night time drive a few days a week to familiarize routes. Hopefully can breakeven. PHD no minimum milleage to clock right?
