Just to let you know, Uber beside giving out hourly incentives, they also give out Pool incentives, trips incentives, rider acquisition cash incentives and lots more of other promotions. All these supplement the total incentives payout.

As for driving, Uber is 1 of the winning formula now and not taxi. Sustainable or not we have eyes to see. Nobody signed their life to it. When it sinks, people will move on again. Not like we stick to driving Uber forever like you driving for those taxi companies.

Uber may throw money to gain market share, but there is a limit to what they can do. It will hit a plateau and reach saturation point. Plus, there is competition from Grab.
It is not so easy to destabilise the taxi industry in Singapore. Whether you like it or not, it is still pretty efficient and Uber/Grab themselves find it hard to gain more market share.
Otherwise, their incentives would not have been so protracted and would have long stopped. That they are still dishing out incentives shows that they do not command a dominant market share yet.
In addition, the market here is so price sensitive both demand and supply. Take away the incentives and many Uber drivers will switch to taxis/Grab. Likewise, raise prices and pax will switch to taxis/Grab.

Gentlemen, at the end of the day, whether we are driving taxis or Uber, we are actually the last of the value chain, we are all actually slaving for those investors and the consumers, sandwiched between a vicious cycle of laboring. And the happiest thing for these investor and consumer to see, which is also the least Uber and taxi drivers wanted, is we go onto public and kill each other, consumer laugh all the way on cheap fare, and investor laugh all the way to the bank. So, dun be a fool, be it Uber or taxi driver, we are actually all on the same boat of suffering and tolling. My china and Thailand bak baks call HDB condo.

Aiya, Uber/grab all new model of transport mah, and our govt like their idea and style mah, so are the younger ones, so let them be lor. In fact, before these apps become popular or I should say become heavily invested by big heavy weight investors like temasek, google and GIC, 5 years ago, they are already there in you iphone or android phone, just that at that time, it is not well regulated, no investors leading to no incentives or promotion. Remember that time, there were many other apps for you to download, hailo...taxi taxi, cab1.0, uber,.grabtaxi, comfort, Spotcab, ....and finally now, only these 2 are thriving, why? because they got investors, who are GLC of Singapore, who also want to solve the transportation problem of call taxi, no taxi, Q at taxi stand, no taxi, and when finally get a taxi, driver said, not on the way...

Frankly, to move from taxi driver to Uber is a no brainer, still driving, still taking call, still the same shit. It will be wiser to move out of the driving trade completey. Do a business or sell wanton mee.. And there are many way to earn a passive income, Uber should be the last priorty

Drivers will not lose, pax will not lose. They strike whilst the iron is hot. Who will end up with a dead unicorn in the end? You go figure.
