Correct TD not glamorous job.... but is a job that allows one to feed a family.
Somehow somewhere in Singapore, some people somewhere in Singapore instilled wrong values in Singaporean ladies asking them to go for 5Cs. In my personal opinion,these ladies should really be going for 6Hs ( http://sgforums.com/forums/96/topics/491792 ).
Only 5% of Singaporean guys somehow is able to meet 5Cs requirements. There are more FTs that could meet 5Cs requirements but most of these relationships ended up in separations (divorce rates of marriages (natural fits and not inter-racials) in USA and UK are between 40-50%; this set of statistics does not include those that did not reach marriage stage ).
For them Uber is like high class.so all those drvrs n paxs also act high class

Why bother with how they look upon us?
Be happy if you make enough to support yourself and your family. Remember they are in organizations whereby they have to worship superiors like gods as they are employees wheras no one is above you and you have a lot more freedom than them.
There is always at least one fellow above them wheras no one is above you. And if you ever have the opportunity to fetch the person who is above them, they normally treat you a lot better than them ( I know not all of them are like that but in real life, taxi driving is not a glamorous job that many would think highly of but it brings in enough income to feed a family if you are not the 5Cs pursuing type ).
Also maybe one of these days, these white collars may find themselves needing to drive taxi in Singapore after retrenchment after the age of 45.
Many of us probably have at one time or another been white collar workers. Even those who were never white collar workers before have at least put on suit before during Wedding Day and photo shoots.
The feeling is just better dressed than others; it does not necessarilly equate to making more than others or being happier than others.
Some Ah Peks dress with only singlets yet have 6-digit incomes. They spend very little but make a lot and therefore could save 1 million per decade. They are not highly educated but have a good set of skills or are very successull in their small businesses.

Taxi drivers are classified under self-employed lah. Businessmen is ho tia nia, but don't delude yourself lah. Businessmen are not necessarily self employed especially for those big companies where the owner himself takes big salaries type.
The 'T' is dropped from PMET cos 'T' is blue collar and low class. Cannot mix with the P, M and E.

T is bundled together one..... remember got all mechanics in SAF are Technician grades as they once service and maintain vehicles/planes but do not engineer vehicles and planes. Yet some can climb up to equivalence of BG level.
After stepping into civilian world, some can even fetch half a milllion salary.
If the business world, some engineering background people are Service Engineers ( which is a nicer sounding word for Technician). They only service and maintain equiptments but do not engineer (design and build) them.
On the other hand, there are also engineering background people who are Sales Engineers, Project Engineers, Design Engineers, Software Engineers, Structural Engineers and many other engineers with different titles.

Got SAF technician grades climb up to BG level meh? I am not referring to those who upgraded, got an engineering degree, became engineers and eventually rose up. When they upgrade, they automatically become PMEs already.
