Formerly, to qualify to be a lao jiao, you need to drive for a few taxis companies, kiam ah long before but settled thru all kind of hardship, camp at AP overnite for few years, went in and out of taxi trade, drove limo before, hijacked others before, and all kinds of whatever smlj a TDs met and experience before. Today, to qualify, you need one extra experience, be a ex UberX or grabcar drivers before + all of the above...then you truly can look down on your lanjiao...and see if already lao liao. If lao liao, congratulation, you are confirmed a lao jiao liao, start to look for the blue pill.

Actually hor, lao jiao or sin jiao do not matter much in taxi driving, and I feel that problem with lao jiao (those with proper shoe type) is worst off once they change company or upgrade to limo, which most of them are now. Due to their lao jiao howlian and die die dun want to lose status, they end up become damn stubborn, dun wan to listen to people advice, so at times, end up losing more than they gain. Today Limo lao jiao are facing a huge task against those apps pte calls, that is why, many of them at kopitiam I see, got a long and sour faces, few talking abt throw keys liao. Bluetec

last month got one bluetec peh chia drive into clementi mall bus stop remember?

Merc bluetec..Not easy hor, overhead chao chao $200+ per day before u can see profit. Got rub shoulder, lobangs and strong customer base, still can survive, but hei hei chuan. If not, forget it, unless you are single or like me, $30 net TD. best in Singapore

Please la. You think those clothes expensive type? All cheap one la. Those bluetec wearing $10 white shirt and $20 black pants. Now you see these limos at night go join those nightspot queues and try picking up street customers you know times are bad.

I wont be surprised if bluetec unker only net $30 on some days. Maybe many days too. They should go back to normal taxi, or just switch to private car. Why waste time helping taxi coy cover their costs?

When I took out one old Sonata from 383 less than 1 month ago, the handing over personnel told me Mercs get taken up very fast the moment they are available. Since newbies cannot take Mercs, it must be "old birds" that would take them. So should be okay lah....but may not make as much as when they were driving Yellow or Blue initially until they could build up their customer base.
I sometimes see local customers not wanting to board white or black limos at shopping malls and seldom see them queueing at shopping malls. Only see them queueing at hotels and Changi Airport.

My understanding is Comfort signs new taxi drivers for Sonata offering them a no $1000 deposit deal during the course on the condition they could get their taxi license within 6 months (more than a year ago, the first time passing rate was only 10-20 percent).
When I went to 383 for as a experienced relief but new hirer, they gave me the option to sign a new mercs, old mercs, old i40 and 2-6 years Sonata. I saw in the garage many Sonatas (at least 100), a few i40s and a few mercs. The handing over personnel told me the mercs were going to be scrapped.
I believe they would not risk their limited Mercs and i40s with new taxi drivers. You know someone who was coaxed into signing up for a Mercs as a new taxi driver?

Because of contract issue....new 2 years old 1 year if you are cdg you take new or old you go figure out......every termination 2k in their pocket u say what risk they have
