Safety wise, SMRT Prius is top. But CDG's MDT is top.

Wat u mean by cdg mdt is top?
SMRT is safer to drive, but CDG's calls are more. I hope Grab Taxi or Uber Taxi somewhat patch this gap.

Is walkie still relevant nowadays? Even CDG MDT low call volume / taiko calls, I reckon radio taxis worse right?

Taxi drivers must stay relevant to the newer communication technology, otherwise, you will feel out of place. But of course you do not need to learn the newest, just seek the middle way, and that will be fine.
Last year, if you will to ask some old jokers here, I was holding a nokia phone, today, due to grab and even cdg mobile call, I hv to upgrade, bo bian, everyday free, slowly slowly learn..now can even search porn
Did you join radio taxis before like LV or Boon Lay? Porn nowadays are free unlike in old times gotto buy/rent tape or CD / DVD.

I think Comfort still no 1....but they are not making as much as before. So they are giving away more than $200,000 between 1 September and 30 November 2015 to those cabbies that take 30 booking jobs per month. So based on the minimum 2 jobs requirements, 5-6 days a week drivers sure qualify one.
I calculated, there are more than 16000 comfort taxis. If there are 32000 drivers, then every comfort driver would stand to earn on the average additional $6.28 these three months from the call-booking division. Good for 2 plates of chicken rice.

Actually, if government willing to take less by reducing or waiving COE for taxis, there would not be not enough taxis on the roads.

Huh, you mean more people wanting to take taxi because cheaper fare therefore not enough taxis?

Taxi flagdown rates and surcharges remaining the same, the rental cost of taxi will be signficantly reduced (up to 50%) and therefore, the take home pay of TDs will also increase signficantly. Then it will attract new and existing TDs to drive longer.
Taxi driver job is reserved only for Singaporeans back-up job. There is no shortage of people signing up to take the taxi course. The waiting time is at least a month.
However not everyone is that greedy to want to drive 12 hours or longer and not everyone can take it.
So we always say up to you how much you want to make.
Some happy when hit $2000, some $2500, and some aim for $5000. Our known record is one Malay aimed and managed to hit $7000 for one month.
As almost everyone is self-employed and self determines how much one wants, it works out perfectly ok like foodstore owners in coffeeshops closing shop when they made enough for the day.
However many enter and leave the industry after trying out too. I beleive there are 6 days courses and likely 3 night courses running every month. If every course has 30 persons, there are 270 person who attend the course every month or 3240 per year. However the number of cabbies have been stationary.
However one thing is for sure, Singaporeans treat cabbies job as a backup job. There are 50,000 inactive Taxi Drivers License holders who continued to renew the license despite not driving knowing any day they could be retrenched and would need this job.
