Motorists who make unauthorised U-turns can be fined up to $1,000 or jailed three months if charged and convicted in court.
The maximum penalty is doubled for recalcitrant offenders.
For speeding, the maximum fine is $200 and drivers can also be given 24 demerit points. Offenders may also be prosecuted in court.

So kena caught is I think is $130..... not quite worth it to violate.
well, if a TD went to pick a pax in bus lane operating hours, and later gets a fine, the TD will find its not worthwhile and will not do it anymore.
sometimes, its better to be safe than sorry. how much is a fare worth as compared to the possibility of a traffic violation fine??

Ya loh, kena one time fine $130 can play 4D for 43 weeks. Would have something to look forward to 3 times every week other than meal time to break the monotony of taxi drivers job.
Right, $130 can do all four 嫖赌 like a real 贪狼.

Therefore, the opportunity cost lies in each individual, just like you can choose to PCC or call one nice bak bak woman, that different in cost is from 0 to few hundred dollars. And in economic, that determine yr saving.
Some TDs earn $5k per month, but still like me, want to borrow here and there.
Some TDs earn $3k per month, but happy happy and easy going in life
Mia hiam still enough......cheapest Geylang, two bottles of beer, $1 or $3.50 4D or Toto and one 煮炒 meal.
If 天时地利人和 time (but very difficult), still can win money.

not worthwhile? you can see so many taxis travelling along bus lane during peak hours in housing estate....

4000 buses in Singapore or 80% of the fleets are equipted with cameras to catch bus-lane violators ( http://www.straitstimes.com/singapore/transport/onboard-cctv-cameras-help-keep-bus-lanes-clear ). Really not worth the risk. If average taxi fare $13, then in 10 attempts kena caught 1 time all the earned money goes to LTA.

More likely not true because normally tickets take at least 1 month to arrive. By then, new government already formed.
Now I see tp busy escorting the top ppl here n there only leh
I only know now PAP has yet to promise not to increase GST after election unlike in 2011 election. If after election increase GST to 10%, taxi rental would go up and possibly fuel price would go up.
Don't know why this time they dont announce would not increase GST. If don't announce, people more sceptical about them and support rate sure drop below 60% and could even drop below 55%. They can forget about getting a strong mandate.
Just heard from one of the election rallies (Singaporeans First Rally) that the Singapore government just opened up a previously only Singaporean industry to foreigners ( property agent sector ) despite there being no shortage of Singaporeans willing to work in that industry.
It is sign that our industry may be opened up to foreigners soon despite PAP government saying they only open up sector for jobs that Singaporeans do not like to take up.
And this is despite us having very competitive fares relative to other developed countries.
So be prepared for unnecessary competition and wage stagnation in the future.
U-Turn? What U-Turn? Sorry no U-Turn without U-Turn sign.
Other Taxis do it why can't I? My apologies to know of that other Taxi Drivers offering you this "special service" but doesn't mean it applies ot me as well. Thank you very much for your kind understanding. You may write to LTA or my company regarding this matter if you wish to have clarifications. (U-Turn without U-Turn Sign, Stopping or alighting at Bus Lanes etc etc etc)

So True. One must be smart to do U-turns in an innovative manner! :)
