I can't say I was surprised when I heard that Europol's match-fixing investigation centred on a cartel in Singapore.
I have been living in Singapore for a couple of years because I work for TV out here.
In many ways it's a great place to live, but I'm afraid the gambling culture is a massive problem.
For many people, football is a bit like horse racing in the UK - it's just a vehicle for betting.
People out here love to wager - they favour handicap betting where one team gets a head start. It's absolutely huge.
And unfortunately in Singapore, and throughout South-East Asia, there's not a lot of integrity in the gambling world....

There are lots of ex english players doing/working as football presenters, commentators, pundits and writers here in Singapore as Singapore is English speaking. -
The statement he make here is a knock on his own head, it is because of the betting habit here that he gets a job, SEA has one of the massive support of english football, if by fans alone, I do not think clubs will like to visit here, it all for the sake of popularity that lead to monetary. There are alway many of these people in UK, and Paul might not be able to get a job there, so come to Singapore, because many of these ex players retired early, some got save and invested their money well, get richer. However, most, like him, might not have save or fail in certain investment that lead to him having to seek job overseas. If you manage to ferry David James, the former Liverpool keeper, he will tell you..he is officially bankrupt and broke, may or may not offer you tip
