In Sydney, drivers are paid A$24 (S$26) per hour and they can choose to work extra hours if they want to earn more money. They typically work about eight hours per shift.
Mr Balkin noted that Sydney has high cost of living and tax rates. There is also a strong union presence. Labour regulations stipulate that the ordinary hours of work should not exceed an average of 38 hours per week, excluding meal breaks.

might jump to drive if the salary is the same here like sydney $26 per hour for 8 hour one month is about $6448 wow better than driving taxi all day long.

Average 38 hours a week. Means one day work 8 hours for 5 days already 40 hours. One week 40 X $26 = $1040 so one month $4000++. Wah 5 days work week nia. Give me this kind of pay I sure wun pick and choose. What ever cockroaches come I take. How many stops also entertain. Go zai groceries zai lao peh lao bu I also zai. Want to shout at me I also let them shout. But must $26 an hour hor....

In Oz, their local, collecting trash, building house, serving waiter, dish washer.....etc.....
Due to the minimum wages rule, employer cannot underpay and overwork.....

Singapore is wary of minimum wage due to our dependency on foreign investment, if we set too high, investor run, if we set too low, a problem to our cost of living, we are more base on meritocracy way of earning a living, however, you can also base on yr wit and mouth to earn a good living in Singapore, like me, jack of all trades, but master of done also can survive nice nice. And then at the end of the day, give yourself a pat and smile while it last. Australia is laid back country, they got so much natural resources that it makes their citizens very laid back lazy, so, their TDs and most hard work job are foreigner, majority from NZ

As i said, australia with many natural resources and foods availiable, they just laid back and let foreign immigrant to do their menial job like cleaner, driving...and so on. Like Dubai and Saudi, because of Oil, 90% of jobs there are done by foreigners, and Singapore is still far away from that point because we got nothing but only pepper crabs, chicken rice and bakut teh. However, in australia, the tax is high, and for foreigners it is more higher, that is why, there are so many illegal migrant in australia, most of the crime are done by foreigners who have lived there for a long time and had become citizens, if you look at the recent execution of Oz at Bali, they are not white, but asiatic from india and vietnam

He told me, a Goberment must comprise of many different parties, each party have a stronghold and somehow can overcome all odd to govern the country.....
Each party got equal power and capabilities to contest and succeed in election.....
Than politically will be balance.....
Unlike us, one party all the way, no fresh ideas, ka ki gong, ka ki song.....
That's why many issues we left with no back door to run.....

Brother brother, australians are former prisoner of britain, australian Chinese are mostly Vietnam boat peoples durng the vietnam war, australian India, mostly from Indonesia due to indonesia discrimination of Indians. Let me ask you a simple question, why Indian expatriates like to come to Singapore instead of going to Australia whereby they can earn much higher??

singapore is not a stepping stone for them. in fact the minister is the one who going around the world to study others transport system and come up the idea of tender for new bus operators.

I sail before with a company call Western perth shipping, top are australis ang mo, below mostly their early immgrants childrens who hold OZ citizenship, you can see that the Oz ang mo are ok, but the asiatic australia will discriminate me and other nationals who joined them. They put themselves as Australian, seibei proud, everything ask you to do, then got good food, go for rest and recreation onshore, they go first..., Singaporeans hv rarely see discrimination at it worst, and I can say, thru my 30 years of experience as TDs, Casket driving, car downloading, sailing, shipyard contractor,...Foreigners in Singapore is leading a very good life
