Cabby saved road user from death : http://news.asiaone.com/news/singapore/hero-cabby-rushed-rescue-man-burning-car .
Police have arrested a 42-year-old man who is believed to have been involved in cheating over 30 cabbies since May.
Police believe the suspect booked or flagged for taxis and would then direct them to stop over at a food centre before going to his intended destination. He is then believed to have asked for a loan of $30 to $50 from the cabbies, allegedly claiming that he did not have enough money to pay for his food.
After getting the amount from the taxi drivers, the suspect is believed to have absconded without returning the borrowed amount and paying the taxi fare.
Through ground enquiries and follow-up investigations, officers from the Bedok Division found out the identity of the suspect.
He was arrested at Block 180C Marsiling Road on Wednesday and will be charged in court on Friday for cheating. Offenders face a jail term of up to 10 years and a fine.

Dear Mr xxx
Taxi in-car camera
FEEDBACK NUMBER: 20150803-0685
We refer to your email of 3 August 2015.
We wish to clarify that LTA is open to the installation of inward-facing video cameras in taxis. However, taxi companies must apply for such installation and fully comply with our requirements to safeguard the interests of both taxi drivers and passengers.
These include demonstrating how the camera works and ensuring that the video footage is properly saved and accessible only by authorised personnel when required, to protect the privacy of passengers.
For your information, taxi drivers are not allowed to install such video camera devices on their own accord, without first obtaining approval from their taxi companies and LTA.
We thank you for your enquiry.
Yours sincerely

Taxi turn turtle
SINGAPORE - A taxi reversed into another cab, then hit a third taxi when the driver changed direction in a panic.
The accident happened near Block 105 in Jalan Bukit Merah on Friday (Oct 23) morning, causing traffic to slow.
The taxi driver was attempting to leave the carpark but the barrier failed to lift at the gantry, according to Chinese daily Lianhe Wanbao. He then decided to reverse and move forward again in order for the reader to detect his in-vehicle unit.
When a carpark attendant arrived to raise the barrier manually, the driver stepped on the accelerator, forgetting that he had left the gear in reverse. As a result, he hit another taxi that was behind him.
In a moment of panic, he changed gears and stepped on the accelerator again, this time lurching forward onto the main road, hitting a third taxi which overturned, said Lianhe Wanbao.
The vehicle subsequently crashed into the barrier in the middle of the road, landing against the traffic on the other side.
The driver of the third taxi, identified as Mr Lin by Lianhe Wanbao, sustained abrasions on his right arm. He appeared to be in shock when reporters arrived, staring at the shattered window of his cab, and his coins scattered around the road.
Police said they were notified of the accident at 9.01am. Investigations are ongoing.
One of the three lanes was closed because of the accident.
About an hour later, another traffic accident happened along the same road when a lorry driver hit a van in front of his vehicle while looking at the accident scene when he drove past.
No one was injured.
