Taxi tout frequently seen at MBS finds fault with cabbies and allegedly spews vulgarities at them
A taxi tout has been caught on tape arguing with other cab drivers at MBS Tower 1 taxi stand. Stomp was alerted to the video was posted by Jimmy Lee. In the video description, Lee alleges that the driver was touting and soliciting at MBS Tower 1 Taxi Stand "everyday". He also said that the driver chose people that headed to tourist attractions and he had "disputes with many taxi drivers behind him and this was another incident using vulgar language".
In the video, the taxi tout can be seen gesticulating angrily and pointing at the taxi drivers. Some men also approach him to calm him down but he continues to argue. He finally drives off after his customers get on board.

LTA steps up checks on illegal taxi services
The Land Transport Authority (LTA) will conduct more frequent checks to nab unlicensed private cars as well as private-hire cars plying illegally for fares, it said in a press release yesterday.
Enforcement operations will be stepped up at areas with high traffic and locations where the LTA has received a lot of feedback.
Nineteen drivers have been issued warnings by the body.
One driver was fined $15,000, banned from driving for a year and his vehicle was forfeited.
He was convicted in January for using his car to ferry passengers and driving without valid insurance.
Police reports had been lodged against him for charging fares of between $30 and $1,050.
Some areas where the LTA will be stepping up enforcement by plainclothes and uniformed officers are Clarke Quay, East Coast Seafood Centre, HarbourFront Centre, Marina Bay Cruise Centre Singapore, Resorts World Sentosa and the Singapore Zoo/Night Safari.
Private cars cannot be remunerated for carrying passengers, and private-hire cars cannot tout, pick up customers in the street or use taxi stands.
Offenders face a maximum penalty of a $3,000 fine and six months' jail, and their vehicles may be seized. - THE STRAITS TIMES

Cabbie who died in freak accident was leaning out of taxi to pick up dropped cash
Just days before he was to celebrate his 60th birthday and Father's Day with his family, taxi driver Ong Kha Lee died in a freak accident.
Mr Ong had opened the driver's door of his silver Premier taxi to pick up some cash that he had dropped, while still belted to his seat at the cab company's headquarters in Changi.
But the taxi moved forward and closer against a wall, wedging his neck and right hand between the door and body of the cab.
He was taken unconscious to hospital, where he died the next day, on June 15, three days before he would have turned 60.
On Wednesday, State Coroner Marvin Bay found Mr Ong's death to be an unfortunate misadventure.
The coroner found no basis to suspect foul play. The accident was captured on closed-circuit television and seen by eyewitnesses.
"The evidence thus shows that Mr Ong had likely and unintentionally released the foot brake when he had reached forward out of his car in an attempt to pick up items that had fallen to the ground.
"As his car was in the 'drive' mode, the vehicle had continued to move forward, wedging him between the wall and his car," said the coroner.
"Mr Ong's sad demise does underscore the importance of ensuring that a vehicle's brakes are fully deployed before any attempt is made to leave the vehicle," said Mr Bay.
Automatic transmission cars should be placed in "park" mode, as there is a tendency for them to continue moving slowly forward is the "drive" mode is not disengaged, he added.
The coroner's court heard that Mr Ong had gone to the company HQ at 23, Changi South Avenue 2, to fuel up at about 7.35pm on June 14.
As he was about to make payment to a cashier for $26 of diesel at 7.42pm, he accidentally dropped some $10 notes and a payment slip on the ground.
The cashier advised Mr Ong to drive forward to exit first and make payment later but he opened door and reached towards the floor to pick up the cash and payment slip.
The taxi moved forward, trapping him. He died the next day in hospital.
A forensic pathologist certified Mr Ong's death to be from traumatic asphyxia.

See this news ..PRC char bor use taxi to do illegal stuff and the TD also kanna. The taxi may get chiong gung also. Jialat man! Economy no good , so TD brothers here must be careful.

SINGAPORE - Seven people were injured in an accident along Airport Boulevard on Thursday (Dec 15) night involving six vehicles, including three taxis.
The accident occurred at about 10.50pm at 65 Airport Boulevard, a spokesman for the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) told The Straits Times on Friday (Dec 16).
A video of the pile-up posted on Facebook shows what appears to be a taxi on top of a black car in the third lane.Housing agent Alvin Teo, 46, who was caught in the traffic jam that ensued, told Shin Min Daily News in a report on Friday that the front of the black car underneath the taxi seemed to be severely damaged, while the taxi's rear was dented.
The police said it was alerted to an accident involving three cars and three taxis at 10.49pm along Airport Boulevard towards the Pan-Island Expressway.
Seven people were taken to Changi General Hospital with minor injuries.
Police investigations are ongoing.
