Best job options for ex TDs?

What kind of jobs do TDs look for if they want to quit driving taxi? I mean jobs that we have an advantage over other candidates?
Besides driver positions, what are other best options?

Forget about looking for jobs lah. Jobs are for FTs and those who can accept $2K a month pay.
Go be a small time entrepreneur. If handsome and got sweet mouth and manners, being a gigolo is the best. If got big muscles and tattoos, try replicate jover chew's mobile air kind of scam shops. Still got many many hor.
There are many opportunities there and those that can really make big bucks do not have courses. Nobody will ever go e2i, wda, poly and schools and start a course teaching people exactly how to pull in $10K and above a month. Some luck is involved and the path to riches is something you have a hammer out for yourself.

Ironically, in a full employment city like Singapore whereby the demand for labours and workforce is high, the pay is still pathetically, low. That could be due to the availability and supply of cheap Foreigners which had depressed our wages. I fully agree that pay structure for locals are far too low against high inflation, and especially so, in a first world developed country which Singapore is one of them. We have unconciously pushed into the lower rung of the society and struggled everyday to survive a high cost first world city here. With this background, the best option is therefore be a blogger

To answer this question, you must look at the skills of a TD. What skills a person can pick up as a taxi driver?
1. Learn how to siam here and there.
2. Learn how to argue until black become white.
3. Learn how to choose to deal with only certain types of people.
4. Learn how to interview people.
5. Learn how to give excuses for everything.
6. Learn how to tcss.
7. Learn how to cannon fairy.
Wow, with such skills, a TD should apply to be a politician.

Good advice but say you really need a job with a steady income, not a risky venture or becoming another chow ah beng jover style, then what are your options? Don't talk about looks or muscles lah, most of us don't have one lah. If have, join Mediacorpse liao.

only job options in the market for average TD r security guard,cofeeshop uncle,cleaner or landscape technician(gardener!).that's about all.most TD r not young or having good looks or even muscular.be realistic!

@luckycabby you start by asking what are your love and passion. Which part of your body is more good at things - eg can you count well, argue well, skillfull hands, do u prefer sitting down or running around, do u love cooking, are u a patient person, are afraid of heights, scared of dead bodies, etc
Then ask what are your fears, what you hate doing. From there ask yourself how can you make yourself useful and collect money from customers. Ask yourself if you are willing to start off with a pay cut in order to acquire the necessary knowledge and skills. Its a small step by step process. Start to think and ask yourself many questions. The income will not b steady at first. With time and great skill that you acquire over the years, it becomes predictable and less worrying.

younger more chance older highly no chance
Confirm can get jobs (my opinion)
driver (delivery,ah mat,bus,casket etc etc many many)
security guard (be prepared to travel n station at ulu places)
LTA warden (go carpark summon/ride bike take cam n afew more positions available)
cleaner (tis one no need say much lol)
Remember not many jobs can offer more than 2.5k(max) per mth now unless u can tahan do ot for very long hrs
goin for interviews also no joke
recently my frn(45yrs) give up n go try find job outside
after goin few interviews get nothing
now he bk to driving taxi lol

I think first start with the taxi company you are working for.
For eg, I am sure CDG got some positions if you have A levels, dip or degree. IO is a good suggestion. How about hiring department or marketing dept? Compliance? But age also a consideration.
LTA should have some suitable jobs.
Just thinking a loud as the day will come for some of us.... either cannot drive due to personal reasons or kena suspended, etc

Now, even low mid level need to go for 5 6 interviews...got skype got video call interview somemore..at 45 and driven teksi for number of years..how to go back to normal working...

When I got terminated..send in my CV for IO position....no sound no nothing.

After 40 years of age, do not waste time looking for a job, especially government jobs. Guarantee no chance even if you only ask for $1.5K. Better stay as a cabby if you got no better kang tao. Your only other hope is to be a hawker or thru own contacts. Those who went jail before can try pimping, private 4d, tua peh kong or debt collection. Those who lost driving license can do fly-by-night renovation. Some boss dun care whether u got driving license or drink n drive. They need extra pair of hands and many construction places are not under TP or URA jurisdiction. Ex-convicts can chiong jb cigarettes or volunteer to sit in jail in return for other party to feed yr family.

Frankly, the best way of driving taxis is be relief, partime relief or weekend relief and hold a permanent job on weekdays, however, these will take up lots of yr time. If you are a full timer, in yr 30s, you still got a chance to move out of it and be a partimer, get a job, built a career, by mid 40s, you might get promoted to supervisor or leader, then give up driving if you do not need money urgently and wanted to spent more time with family. But if you have drive taxis from 30s into your 40s, it is better to stick to it, not only there are less employment opportunity, you also might not get use to working life anymore. So, it will be wiser to carry on driving and hv passion in it. But of course, if you get a very good opportunities, you can go back to working, as for Taxi driving, you can come back anytime. For those who have drive into your 50s, the food is already cook, like it or not, you are place under... confirm taxi driver.com.sg And for those who have drive into their 60s.....cabinet crews, prepare for take off

Thanks bro, for all the inputs. Think better stick to it or if cannot drive anymore, better think of other self employed opp. Agreed that going back to getting a job is tough, expecially for ah laus.
One ex ah lau TD (he got a blog somewhere, can't remember) got involved in MLM and quit driving. Few can do it but he showed that it can be done leh.
