An accident involving a taxi and two pedestrians occurred at the junction of Ang Mo Kio Avenue 2 and Avenue 5 yesterday (Dec 7).
Stomper Kanaga was at home when she a heard a loud crashing sound outside her flat.
She immediately rushed to see what had happened and later informed Stomp that an accident had occurred.
Kanaga said:
"A taxi was in the middle of the road and there were also two people lying there.
"But passers-by quickly rushed to the injured pedestrians aid and helped move them to the side of the road."
According to her, the taxi driver made attempts to drive away but he stayed at the scene after being yelled at by the passers-by.
She added that the police and ambulance arrived on the scene within 15 minutes of the accident.
Stomp contacted the police to find out more information about the accident.
A police spokesperson said:
"Police received a call today (Dec 7) at about 6.58pm informing us of an accident at the junction of Ang Mo Kio Avenue 2 and Ang Mo Kio Avenue 5.
"Upon police's arrival, it was established that an accident involving a taxi and two pedestrians had occurred at the said location.
"The two pedestrians were conveyed conscious to Khoo Teck Phuat Hospital.
"Police investigations are ongoing."

Huh??? I tot the driver is not supposed to move the vehicle whenever there's injuries involved in an accident.. Wah, now new rules liao har, can move the vehicle to one side, regardless of whether injuries or no injuries involved in accident...

Well, the driver moved his vehicle is wrong, but he do not want to make a big jam at the crossing, jamming both lanes from left and those wanting to turn, this is not a case of knocking another vehicle, this is a an outright case of knocking down pedestrian. You cannot let pedestrian lie on the road till the ambalance come, all must move away And in the context of singapore traffic rules, this is 100% wrong, you move or not move yr vehicle is not much a different, just park one side, let police deal with it. Even at Cdg if cam shown a red man crossing (which is pedestrian fault), driver is still wrong and chargeable, but maybe lesser penalty

So can't blame the ppl when they said the driver tried to move away from the scene loh..

But the key word is "attempt run away" that is a direct insult to TDs in Singapore, if it is a Merc or some jaguar, she would had put it different or said that the Merc moved to one side and attended to the injured pedestrian. If the taxis driver do really want to run away...do you think he cannot drive away??? this is a very serious accusation, Hit and Run is the most serious crime in traffic rules, moving of vehicle may valid some traffice regulation, but more of insurance purposes, once you move, insurance will be in Question, Police just report, you moved your vehicle to allow other traffic to flow, no offensive to police, but to insurance, it might be difficult to claim unless you have taken photos

This place not much traffic lah. Move the taxi kam lan. Trying to run lah ah wah. Mai protect your driver action leh. Even CTE/PIE/BKE wu accident langa lang also must wait for mata come casuing jam leh.

Without stopping and get off your car or taxi to check the injury, confirm your intention is to run away....
After bang someone, still sit inside car?.....

If own self injury, don't even need to move the car or taxi, jam, let it jam lor.....
Traffic police will ask their tow to tow back to Paya Lebar Traffice Police seizure department one.....

i understand once there's injury and the victim is imobile, driver should not move vehicle till police come. unless u are really obstructing the whole road, dependng on situation, take photo first and then try to adjust a little so traffic can move.
but if its case if u run over the victim and its still under the car, die die DO NOT MOVE VEHICLE

Please dont test the system. Usually any injuries, if not death stil not so jialat, this one bo bian one. Must stay @ the scene, call the mata, say you involved accident @ where, u driving teksi or what...blah blah.
If human being pinned under the car and u move car without authorisation, hoy seh...gd luck to you, Unless it's alien la. then ok.

Bro, some can't handle this type of situation. So they might chose to "run".. They knew it's wrong but just somehow their first reaction is to get away from the scene "unknowingly" or in a "dazed" state of mind..
In Singapore, sure able to detect if there's injury or death involved... but if it's vehicle and vehicle w/o any injuries/death involved... then good luck to you...
I kenna once before in AYE... someone bang me and caused me to bang the one in front.. he run away and I lan lan got to pay for own damages and the front car damages..
Report police, no news yet except with a letter that it's still pending....

Not that some cannot handle the situation, more of some do not know the procedure, not many TDs have good road accident knowledge, most ah lau beng seng will just move oneside, that instinct of not wanting to block other traffic is alway on a TD mind. The case here will be classified under unintentional movement of vehicle after an accident. And please be remind that it is an ACCIDENT, not manslaughter or on purpose. In actual fact, Traffic police will prefer that motorist move away to one side as soon as possible after an accident, but the problem is insurance need pictures, need police reports and so on, but imagine people can just move oneside after taking photo before police intervention, how well will our road and expressway be clear of JAM.
