well done!
TAXI giant ComfortDelGro Corp is waiving call-booking levies for its cabbies for a week this month.
This means Comfort and CityCab cabbies will earn 30 cents more for current bookings, and $1 extra for advance bookings during the waiver period from Nov 11 to 17.
The move is expected to cost the listed company around $350,000 in revenue.
Company spokesman Tammy Tan said the waiver is "a gesture of appreciation to all our drivers for helping us achieve over nine million successful booking jobs in the last quarter". The figure is a record for Singapore's biggest taxi operator, which controls 16,800 out of 28,000 cabs plying the roads here.
But industry players said the move is also in response to competition posed by taxi apps that are elbowing their way into the lucrative taxi booking market.
Comfort cabby Tony Pang, 64, described the waiver as "good and encouraging".
"But maybe it is also to discourage drivers from using Uber and GrabTaxi," he added, referring to two of four taxi apps present here.
These apps have been chipping away at booking revenue of taxi operators in the last two years or so.
GrabTaxi, for instance, has seen its booking volume grow a hundredfold since it was launched a year ago, to an estimated 40,000 bookings a month. And now, Uber is giving away mobile phones to cabbies who sign up with it.
Meanwhile, commuters are wondering why ComfortDelGro's goodwill gesture is not extended to them as well.
Regular cab commuter Lynn Chua, 42, said: "I book cabs all the time. It would have been nice for Comfort to give loyal customers a booking discount."
The financial consultant added: "But I suppose that would jack up booking volume, and it might not be able to cope with that."
Ms Tan of ComfortDelGro said the levy waiver for drivers will benefit commuters indirectly as "drivers are incentivised to take on more booking jobs".
arya, their bonus fat until overflow liao la.

Unker, haven't start yet lah....free levy from 11 Nov to 17 Nov.
Like the PAP , they think we are fools and believe every cock and lies they tell us. 9 million calls? appreciate us taxi drivers? had all these apps not come in , they wouldnt even give a fark about your welfare.
Truth is 3rd party apps is taking a lot of their share , every stronghold that CDG used to have are starting to fall ONE BY ONE. And blame who but themselves? damn greedy fucks , have so many options like auto booking , sms booking for commuters to access but ONE core thing is missing , the bloody DESTINATION. Send all taxis to ulu places with no point of return , leaving a big vacumn in areas where theres great demand. Stupid assholes.
Me wish their cabs will pile up at the backyard collecting dust, it is not necessary to drive for CDG anymore. Your bookings are on your phone , where your handphone goes , your customers follow.
Thank you Grab , Easy , Uber and Hailo for introducing competition thats missing for the past 20 over years.

So, gentlemen, you can see the luxury of calls business, just set up an IT system and you get money flowing in, no wonder those call apps are giving away hp, LCDTV, pads and lots of incentives to lure us to slog and work for them while they get fat paycheck
Be glad that these apps are giving away cash , hp and whatever. CDG gave NOTHING and they got an even FATTER check.

KNN, make me happy for nothing.... Anyway, the thing is I don't really take call one lah... only happen that it's raining at that time and that it's peak hour somemore (jam everywhere) then i take... if not, sweep is better...
Originally posted by bowah:Rain also can sweep, I sweep at each bus stop…lols.
Sweeping at times can make more than calls, because calls can take up much of your time, looking for location, paxs, waiting can end up sucking minutes, and if no show or cannot find pax, or cb pax damn slow to come down..lagi jialat.
So depend on what situation, at times, like weekends, sweeping is sometime better, up and down, pick and go until song song to jurong, soon soon to yishun and wang wang to sembawang.
10 minutes with pax can easily take you $8 to $10 fares, take calls, locating and waiting, 10 minutes only $3.30, and then if that cb pax slowly slowly come down, you put no show, all effort wasted.
So, when to sweep, to Q and to grab, to take call is critical, for you can take 12 calls per day, but you might never win a taxi sweeping without calls…unless you are hoping for a new phone or LCDTV
Rain sweep at bus stop?? during peak hour?? wah,, u got a lot of money and points hor...
