  Singapore public transport 18th most affordable of 60 cities surveyed

  

  SINGAPORE: The Republic has been ranked as the 13th most affordable city in a comparison of urban transport prices in 60 cities by travel search website GoEuro.

  In its Urban Transit Price Index announced on Friday (Oct 31), the website said Singapore has the 18th most affordable public transport, the 11th most affordable taxi rides and the 15th cheapest Uber rides. The pricing for the taxi ride was based on a 10km journey, while for Uber it was based on the average cost of all available services in the city for a 10km journey. The cost of a single ticket factored into the ranking for public transport.

  For Singapore, the taxi price was calculated to be US$6.61 (S$8.50), the Uber price was US$11.45 and the public transport fare was US$1.27. The data was obtained from official provider sites, said GoEuro.

  wedish capital Stockholm was named the most expensive city in the world for urban transport, and also came in first for Uber at US$48.57. Stockholm's public transport costs US$4.96 per ride, while its taxis cost US$40.04 for a 10km ride. 

  Zurich in Switzerland has the most expensive taxis in the world, at US$46.26 for a 10km journey, while London, England, has the most expensive public transport in the world at US$7.55 per trip.

  The cheapest city in the world is New Delhi, said GoEuro, with the Indian city also ranked most affordable for public transport at US$0.22 per trip. Another city in India, Mumbai, had the cheapest taxis at US$2.32 for 10km, while Jakarta, Indonesia, has the cheapest rides on Uber at US$3.77 for a 10km journey.

  Wah I want to go Swiss drive taxi liao. But hearsay some PAP big shot says we also going forward to Swiss standard of living. So when can up fare? I not greedy. No need $40++ fare for 10km. $20++ enough liao lah.

  Got mah, now we got swissotel, swiss bake shop and swiss cake, when our smear Pap govt said something, you hv to listen probably, they said, we go toward swiss standard of living, the key word is WE, not the taxi drivers. In terms of first world economy, we are the poorest taxi drivers
