...my advice to them was to increase earlier this year, but they wait and wait...now..jialat liao, with a gloomy economy...and election getting nearer, it is more difficult to justify a fare hike..GBT

Oil price now is US $75 per barrel, did our power supply bill went down, did our fuel surcharges went down, did our fuel cost went down accordingly with oil increases??? knn....all these govt cheat people one. Prices went up, every go up, prices go down, nothing go down and actually more going up and up. Next year, tia kong october is election month, there will be more quotas release for car by LTA, but at the same time, the recent annoucement that car population will further reduce, Whatever more quotas released is more due to more car scrapping after 10 years period. So, by and large, COE, which had become a cash cow for govt, might reduce next year, but not too extreme. Recently higher COE are more of season period like CNY and christmas, taxi companies will not go in and bid, and as taxi are now under open Cat, it might not affect the other A and B cat. However, it still go in tandem with those Catergories. Taxis companies who scrapped their crowns last sept, will go into bidding again next year, maybe after the CNY, and that could also affect the COE movement. IMHO, it will float around $60k for cat A, 65k for Cat B and 68k for Open Cat come next year. But for those who are looking and waiting to buy car, COE may go down, but not drastic, infact, Car prices by itself had went up due to higher cost of operation and manufacturing, so by next year if you go in to buy a car, you might get a lower COE than now, but a higher car price In another words..LPPL

Now is a holiday season, and because most people rented out taxis at this period of time, their contract tend to end at this period, so you can see many TDs wanting to enjoy their holidays with family first, then later think about which cab company to join. Then after holidays, rested, money spent, all very yao liao, especially after CNY, you see all taxis rented out, some hv to wait, why, because many no money liao mah, some even gamble until kiam ah long...this is the cycle of taxis up and down in Singapore
