It appeared that the taxi came from a side road, cut across the double white line and onto the lorry's path.

if that's the case, even if overtaking, i believe the TD can at least switch on his hazard light signal so as to inform the rest behind. Basic courtesy if even last minute wan to cut in. The signal can at least the drivers behind to have time to react, instead of TDs cut in and jam break. Any drivers will also piss off if taxi cut in abruptly without signal.
During class 3 licence, instructors never teach drivers about signal lights??

What to do?Everyone stress..TD need to cover up rental first and with turbo diesel engine sometimes assume that the cab is faster than anything else..Nowadays road users are different from last time..Now Ah Nehs,Ah Tiongs,Pinoys also driving on our roads with different driving/riding culture.

i know some TDs do on and some TDs dont on. I got drive pte car sometimes also horn @ those TDs. hee. As long you overtake me and pick up pax with hazard light on, i sure give you one. If overtake me and jam brake, of course i jam brake and will try to be funny with you. Simple as ABC. I also a TD, you also a TD. Follow the simple basic rule, switch on hazard light so also to inform behind drivers when you brake. Most drivers will see hazard light will feel happy.... even though you overtake them.
IT's some sort of psychological equation. Try it. You will see the difference.

Some private cars owner hates taxi alot, no matter what, alway like to overtake or horn at taxi, but they fail to note that taxi is not a leisure pte car, taxi do their business on the road, the road is their office. -
All these private car farkers will alway talk among themselve on the bad of TDs, but when they take taxis, they knn, said taxi driver are good, all hypocracy type one lah. Then when this farkers end up driving taxi themselves, then they start to understand why, what, where, which and how taxi driving works. Many of these pte cars' owner in Singapore hv lots of bad habits, from not signalling to no stopping hazard lights to cut lanes and at times, dunno where they are driving..this morning just saw one ah soh driver driving on the centre of the white lines..knnccb, think road belong to her grandparents..limpek honk, she then move to onside, then pass by her, can give me middle finger somemore...wha lau... If you notice, taxi horn sound are more irritating than most normal pte car, so that is why, the public hate to listen to taxi horn sound..limpek go put one bull horn...see how these slow farkers wake up
