3-vehicle collision on PIE after cabby 'can't feel brakes' -

  SINGAPORE - It was a horrifying moment for a passenger in a ComfortDelGro taxi when the cabby exclaimed that she could not feel the brakes. What followed was a three-vehicle collision along the Pan-Island Expressway (PIE) at about 3.10pm on Friday. The passenger, known only as Christopher, told citizen journalism Stomp: "The driver suddenly said, 'Oh no, I can't feel my brakes,' and then we hit the car in front." The car subsequently collided into another vehicle in front of it as well. Christopher, who was sitting in the back, hit his eye on the seatback in front upon impact. This resulted in an inflammation of the eye and a hospital bill of about $150. Coincidentally, a mechanic was passing by and stopped to help, while the taxi driver phoned Comfort DelGro for assistance. A tow truck and a replacement cab for Christopher arrived at the scene after 45 minutes. Comfort DelGro also sent another cab afterwards to bring him to the hospital for a checkup. Christopher commended the taxi operator's response to the accident. He told Stomp: "I feel that Comfort DelGro did their best to respond, although the replacement taxi took 45 minutes to arrive. They also said they would pay for my bill. "I have just gone through the checkup and will hope for full recovery soon. "I hope the taxi driver doesn't get into trouble, it really wasn't her fault, it should be some mechanical issue."

  On hazard light..honk honk..high beam the veh in front..let go gas..shift to gear 1...pull handbrake?

  tell tale signs of brake failure - step on the brake hard n if it goes down any further slowly. get it check imm coz its oozing somewhere.

  if u use the brake too much when going down a hill , the brake fluid will boil due to convection from the disc/drum .or passing thru a pool of water or brake becomes too spongy.  - step n let go many times till u can feel the brake again.

  when i am on a emergency braking n there is a car behind . i use this method to avoid a collision.-  jam the brake hard n release n jam again, this is to give driver behind time to respond

  Huh??? u bullshit or I bullshit?? Emergency brake is brake all the way, still got time to let go??? aiyo.. Brakes works on hydraulic, once your depress the brake pedal, it will compress the brake cylinder hydraulic to activate the brakes...now if you keep braking hard, the cylinder will burst due to over compression. Ladies drivers like to brake here and there for no reason, you guys should know

  When at stationary, you press yr brake, hydraulic compress the brake cyclinder and activate the brake pads. Some people, especially women driver like to press and press the brake a few times, that will cos leakage of hyraulic oil leading to poorer and poorer and finally no brake feeling because all drum emptied. Dun believe, at stop position, you depress yr brake, then you press again and again, you notice the brake pedal getting higher and higher and youcannot depress much further unless you use force, when you use force...the brake drum can burst hor.

  my BS is not as gud as u. but if u do not understand wat i talking u can ask or just STFU .  that is why u stay a TD

  I have seen scored brake cylinders but never a broken one . the seals will go first as they r the weakest links.

  as for brake drum crack, its more to metal fatigue due to heat than the pressure of the cylinders/brake shoes.

  0 to 5k in Singapoe is consider lower income group leh 5 to 10k is consider lower middle income group 10-15k is consider middle income group 15 to 20k is consider higher middle income income group 20 to 25k is consider lower high income group 25 to 30k is consider high income group 35 to 40k is consider higher income group 40k above..lower rich group

  Income is self define, I no talk cock lah, I bullshit only. How you look at your income, be it net or gross is very different, to be fair, we use net income. I can earn $10k, you can earn 8K, but if I have loan to cope with due to my spending habit, my net income per month, can only be 5k, and if you, at 8k, but very conservative in your expenditure, then your net can be 7k. So the income diversified. But if you really want to look at the definition of income...you can take our national housing as a very good indicator...You see my brother, let take a look at HDB, where is the threshold of total houshold income, that you are able to purchase HDB, and above that, you cannot...12k. Like it or not, this is the range that govt divide the class.
