Why compare to Hk when you can compare with Japan professionlism and top services, HK, as I used to travel there, their cab service are so so, but hv to agree that there are more taxi on the road, but the driver altitude can be worst than Singapore. Japan, true service, but the fares also reflect an amount that qualify that kind of services, if you put jap taxi as per singapore fare rates, I think you can get worst TD or no taxi at all. But jap got it own productive way of taxi, their top is a bulb, so all can see (even from behind) if it is hired or not, and their changing shift destination are just North, South, East and West, follow by NE, NW, SE, SW. Which I find it more productive than just give a name like Pasir Ris, you can alway said NE, a wider option for both the cab and pax. And to end it, jap and hk are still using crown, but jap crown are very new, not the new model, the old model but very well maintained. Ours here are mostly turboed, the author could be against the companies and govt in a cartel situation, not on taxi driver, taxi drivers in Singapore are mostly in their middle ages and above, that kind of fare do not command much service because it is a peanut fare in a 1st world and 4th most expensive city in the world. But in return, we got mature driver who understand the important of delivery people to their destination, and of course, there will be some bla bla black sheep in any taxi driving industrial, but to compare to around the region, a pax should be glad that he or she is being serve by a Singaporeans who knows the logic of right and wrong. You simply cannot compare an apple grow here and somewhere else

Baby prams also can surcharge only wheelchair exempted. Think should have if not pax always complain us face black black when loading luggage.
Also they have this rule about the fare change.
It is not an offence if a taxi driver cannot give change to HK$500 or HK$1,000 notes.

until today, many still hoping "others" to change for their better living.
for this case, still hoping the government/LTA to change, to implement something for them to get a cheap taxi ride.............
we can have plenty of brilliant ideas, real solution for whatever issue we face, but when these brilliant ideas does not contribute extra $$$ to the government, it will remain as an ideas only.
but if it is merely an idea to contribute more $$$ to the government, this ideas will be soon implement even it does not solve the issue.
this is Singapore, let face it.
you want a change, first, change yourselves
i do have hiring a taxi issue like anyone, i do have paying hefty amound for a car issue too, i do have taking bus, mrt issue too.........
so, what i do is, at the most comfortable finanical abilty, i brought a $1500 second hand motorcycle..............
i got a friend, got himself a bicycle for his daily travel to work.
there are always another solution for ourselves, it the matter of choice.
but to depend on our dear government............ we just got to pay more, and still facing the same issue.

Pax complain abt taxis is not a new issue lah, their comparing with other countries is alway the same one lah, year in and out, diam diam kong and kong to seek attention. But no matter what, pax will never ever complain among themselves. For most of them, once you mention TD only, all will phui xx together As for taxi drivers, worst, not only complain abt paxs, taxi companies and govt, but also abt other taxi drivers...that goes back to not United

HK taxi drivers are very much gang base, as a taxi driver, you need to pay certain amount to be part of the gang and also to start taxi driving, so when you get an unreasonable pax like ang mo or drunken ah neh, a call only, the whole gang will arrive, pax also guai guai liao. -

Aiya brother brother,,...there is a very popular word in Singapore called as Consolation. For some TDs, when thing cannot work out or that they find no solution nor comfortable words to res their soul, they seek the alternative, like going into public or within friends to seek attention and console.
