As transport bus fare had increased after so many meetings, the likelihood of taxis meter fare increases is on the way, this was what my initial arguement/proposal for cdg since january. TD income in Singapore is lacking behind inflationary rates that had ballooned in recent years, most companies in last and this year pay increment had been around 5% and more, coupled with variables like bonuses, taxi drivers who had slogged with long hours of working (driving), their income need to move up to counter inflation so as to remain sustainable and yet relevant to the high cost of living and working in Singapore, simply to put it, you cannot expect taxi driver income to remain status quo when even chap chai rice had already gone up from $2.50 to $4.00 or more. From a taxi driver perspective, cost of operative had gone up, as such, with cost of income going up in tandem with cost of operation (rental and fuel prices), the income of taxi driver is no different from 1990, in 1990, you can make $3,000, in 2014 you can also make $3000 per month, but the cost of surviving had gone up tremedously

I believe this time will be distant driven, distant driven are more like silent increment, whereas flag down increment tends to gather more publicity dissatisfaction, and every flag down increase, there will be slow down in taxi business for about a few weeks.

Limo how? Like that lah. Better because same meter jump bo rejection leh. Higher rental? Last time also like that leh. I pay $130 for Mercs others pay $100 for Sonata difference of $30 meter jump the same. Now new i40 vs new Mercs also difference of $30++ dollars. Cannot drive?

I don't know the price... I heard the same with the only thing still remain the same, that is the midnight surcharge.
Plus the distance down (example every 400m reduce to maybe 300m or less)

Those fare adjustment are mend for our rental and fuel adjustment

Not only rental adjust, fuel tax and cost will also go up, in reality a personal income tax in singapore is 7%, Plus your Gst 7% + fuel tax ++, high medicate cost, HDB stamp duty property tax, road tax, service tax you could be paying 25% in taxation. Therefore when foreigner said, singapore tax is low, I dun ready agree with you look into the total taxation package. And 25% is on par with australia and many other welfare countries (including japan) whereby their people are more highly paid, yet with free medical, pension fees and social welfare like no job still get paid. But singapore, everything is at your cost, from CPF to Medishield to housing. We are also paid less due cheap labour availiability that ignore quality and loyality but more on quantity and short term profitiability.

As you all have heard and read in news, we are the world 4th most expensive city, but our taxi driver income remain stagnated due to raising of rental and fuel cost. And the cost of goods/living which had increased trememdously..all thanks to our govt economy first at all cost, we are in fact getting poorer by the day. Yes, you might had earn 1k more than 20 years ago, but what is 1k today?? Gentlemen, we must fight for our share of wealth that this country had created, otherwise we will be left behind, far far behind. This country had create billions of wealth, but it distribution is shocking and unfair, only the top 10% rich had benefitted, the rest and especially the lower one like us, the taxi driver, will hv to continue to slog, to fight each other, to grab..to press the fastest for a few dole of bread. Such are the poor distribution of a country wealth

Ask the old bird here ... if I get a non-contract sonata from cdg now, will they increase my rental when the fare starts to increase to 3.70 ? If they can suka increase my rental, then I better get 140 now and sign a one year contract.

One chopstick can break easily, 100 chopstick will be more difficult to break, the point here is togetherness, but as a multi racial society and yet getting more multi until dunno what race you are..we hv all lost our identity, some people said I from china..phuixx And it is on this idealogy of multi races, our govt knows that there can hardly be unity and togetherness, and is typically where they act without much resistance. Guess the only platform now is 2016
