Not possible based on the current technological advancement less for MRTs. NEL, CCL & DTL. LRT also unmanned. Maybe because car sales are still doing very well.

It is not a matter about car sales or fuel usage, Gentlemen, you must learn to understand the essence of our govt policies both from a social and economical dimension. Singaporeans have been complaining about too much foreigners in the workforce and society Buses had gone into a illegal strike that never happen for more than 1/2 a century ago Manpower shortage All these are what drive the govt into looking at automation, like ibanking, i shopping..and so on, require less manpower, and if can go driverless, we will not need to ah tiongs as driver or ah neh as pick up drivers, and that can reduce the relying on them. As such govt would had solved or minimised foreign manpower dependency which can help to reduce local anxiety and complain on foreigner and at the same time, reduce foreigners strikes and riots...UNDERSTAND!

personally, I do not understand why the government is so into replacing labour with machines. wouldn't this reduce the employment opportunities for us?
well, you may defend by saying replacing labour with machines lowers costs of operations and enables the other employees to earn more, while the government can collect less tax from us.
however, if you look at it from another angle, if there are more employment opportunities for us,
more people can work = more people can have money = more people can buy goods and services = sales increase and companies can collect higher revenue = more profits for companies = more money for employees & many more people can work = many more people have money and people can earn more money = many more people can buy goods and services = companies can collect much higher revenue = much more profits for companies = much more money for employees & even more people can work = ..... {by the way, that's how a stimulus package works}
more people employed = more people to collect tax from = the government can collect less tax from one person, yet still able to collect more tax in total = more funds to upgrade and build/provide infrastructures and services = better standards of living and higher quality of life for everyone!

For the past few years, productivity growth had lack behind wage increases, what that mean..that mean that, most industrial today work on cheap labours to enhance their net profit, not by productivity. So, as the years go by, productivity grew into negative, and that is scaring. And when govt tightened the foreign workforce, you see those industrial who engage in lots of foreign workforce start to panic and dunno what to do, because the skill of productivity are lost, unlike in the 70s and 80s, where productivity is at its highest, you do not need foreigners, the Jap taught us productivity, innovative and automation, we all gain from it. But today management fail miserably in productivity concept, because they are pampered by cheap foreign workforce that do not need much managment skill and brain to mantle with..just call 100 young foreign workers can get rid of 10 old local workers, business will be good again. No need to invest in skill development, robotics, RND and so on..
