Don't kid ourselves,this Uber/Grab r the biggest threat to taxis worldwide.I myself have tried UberX,n i find it's convenient n easy to use.with their fares now cheaper than taxis,more people r using it.with a real car to ride on n being ferried like a boss,who is not attracted?

Matter is, I still can earn my $30 net, in fact, the threat of Uber and Grab is taxis, Singapore, like Japan, have a good taxi system and infrastructure, so for Uber and grab to penetrate, they need to give free ride, so that is why, after 3 years of Ubering and Grabbing with all kind of promotion, taxi still remain. But I agree that Uber and Grab will one day take over taxis, by that time I pity the pax, they will be paying back time for pax to Uber and Grab after enjoying years of cheap fares. I took some young paxs who told me, must also support taxis, without taxis, uber and grab will take the market and surge high price, so I told them, dun worry lah, no taxi, uncle still got security guard and casket license. Once a taxi driver, forever a taxi driver. And I also told them that taxi had been around for more than 1/2 a century, PHV life will be short lived, the most ten years later, they will have to path way for DRIVERLESS, but in the meantime, enjoy the slavery while it last...be it taxi or phv drivers. Today, it is the PAX market

but what is dangerous is that when uber and grab start lowering payouts to their own drivers once they have enough drivers in their pool. one good example is how uber shifted its pay structure in london. the attractive pay made people leave their jobs to be uber drivers, and after the cuts in payment, they realised that it stopped being profitable for them

That is why govt wants Phv to start up an association to control Uber and Grab drivers from whacking Uber and grab offices glass door.

No worries, Singapore tia kong in 5 years time, need nearly 15,000 security guards, jobs is not hard to find, problem is the employers, they hear 40+ yo only, sian liao.

Tia kong is gross, that day took a lady grabcar, she said, she can earn 4k net, go JB twice a week to pump, also said dun rent from LCR, outside better...she also former TD, told me, if no incentives, can die, driving for PHV must be more smart and more cunning then driving as a TDs. But everyday, she 16 hrs on the road leh...wah piang
