To be a TD?
they should get a proper job outside? TD income u all roughly know what's achievable, why not just get a above 2k ++ job that has more prospects and employee benefits?
TD, few years later still TD.. Not much prospects.
if mrt network keep expanding, more taxi fleet, the cake will be smaller, how to survive in this trade?
Y not? I also started in my mid 30s
I think it's more to personnel preference la
do wat makes u comfortable so no right or wrong
toking abt cake getting smaller thing is un avoidable
wen u entered tis trade others also make noise say the same thing like u ma
tis trade belongs to no one so just drive as long as u can
"future part" tok later enjoy now
At age 30yrs old with dipolma holder,
1) mounting debt like hp bill, eletricity, housing loan
2) starting a small family
which job can straight away provide monthly $3k?
That's why i join TD straight away.
Bro, actually u can counter the cpf portion.... That is to put a certain amount of $$ to buy some form of investment insurance... take it then as cpf contribution or saving lor...
No prospect??? It really depends on how you look at it lor... R u telling me that those dipolma or degree holder have better prospect in working life.. I can tell you that it's not nescessary... Take me for an example, I'm a degree holder and holding an slightly above average salary job... but my prospect is actually waitning for someone "cheaper" taking over my job... FYI, I'm only mid 30s....
Bro bowah had explain the health and social issue....
My thoughts on this topic is that nobody owe anyone a living and that you do your best in whatever you choose... You may chose the unsuitable one, but at least you can tell yourself that you had tried your best and no regrets....
I actually find TD quite interesting and had thoughts to convert to be fulltime TD when my car COE expires....
if u dont hv dipolma @ 30.... no jobs offer u more $ than taxi except sales line but not every1 can make it in sales line.
those farking office 8-5 job pay u below 2k when u hv 0 level or nothing.

Unless u keep well for rainy day as we are lacking in cpf savings as under employment, like it or not, cpf contribution from employer and u is a must, but a TD, collects most in cash, u have to manage well else retirement funds u wouldn't dare to think

TD will also be long hours job, but not so pressured profession..
with constant pax at peak hour, u can settle whole day cost in 4hours.
but if u not feeling well, feeling lazy, or going holiday, it eats into your income very quickly.
Lan jiao lah....Diploma no prospect? Means you not hardworking enough. Before I got my part time degree I already earning more then a free NTU grad and have them working under me. Working life is stressful lah. Give you X amount of pay and you get 10X amount of stress and workload. But drive taxi different. To take back X amount of income only need 1/2 X amount of stress and effort.
Ya lah no CPF no big deal. Just dump $20 everyday into a Milo tin one month $600 liao. No need put into CPF account. Use that to pay for your house. Remember one thing if you use CPF pay housing loan sell that time must put back. If use cash sell liao take back cash. Put money take money.
Annual leave also no problem for me. My incentives every month covers 5 rental days and still have 4 free rental days. So one year I got 64 free rental days. Not enough? Lol

What incentive covers 5days/monthly?
So we just talking about 30s nia hor.....
For male, 20s-30s is our prime time in life, in fact during the 30s, mostly will decide your fate and many things in life.....
To be fair, I look it at 2 kind of situation.....
1, single group, this group of people, knn don't need to care smlj la, "ho jiak ho koon".....
2, married group, this group of people than headache lor, even they want to just think about themselves, but also cannot ignored the feeling of their family members lor.....
Some lowly educated TD like me, my family consider a å°康家åº, my lau char bor also a si ah lian, we jiak si mi, my children jiak si mi lor.....
So whether I becum a TD in 30s or becum a CEO in 30s, really don't make a lot of different lor.....
As for those high educated TD, I can't speak on behalf for them, becos I never been in their shoe before, so really can't understand their feeling and thinking.....
But in term of education, we definitely in different league, they are the cream crop, in Premier League, playing with top notch players, than suddenly ask them cum play 4th division, you think they can think a like like us? I don't think so.....
That's why FA cup always see underdog beat them, because they take it too lightly mah.....

Is true that put money take money.....
The only plus thing about this CPF thing is that, our Goberment pay you interest every year, regardless of any situation that will happen, even your CPF is locked inside housing loan, they still pay you interest, bo smelly 1.....
$1million cash put under my pillow, after 10 years, still $1million leh, maybe lesser becos of inflation.....
Originally posted by foolsh_2000:frankly speaking our cpf has been lock up by the govt.after 55,they will force u to fill a form call cpf life .so after 65,u can only get a small amount (few hundred dollars),every month for life!
Looking at our Goberment "policy".....
These day, our CPF money is not for us to enjoy anymore.....
Most likely is a saving more for your next generation, ie your children to enjoy.....
Than your children will contribute and save for your grand children to enjoy lor.....
Think it that way, you will feel better......
Quick, if haven't dominate anyone, go dominate 1 now.....
Dear all, i will be quitting as a taxi hirer and joining a private limousine company. There are currently looking for drivers to join them. You get to rent their cars at only $4O+ per day and they guarantee that at least 10 jobs per day will be given. U can earn at least $13 to $40 per job depending on the time and distance travelled during this period.
This is esp suitable for people who do sales or jobs that travel round the island.
If keen, pls SMS/Whatsapp me ONLY at 91083793. Thank you!
If you are a diploma holder, go do what your diploma trained you to do. Work hard and try to reach the top. Upgrade yourself along the way. Drive taxi part time if you like. If at 40 years old, you become tired liao or sick of corporate hypocrisy, then you can always become a TD. You lose nothing.
But it can never be the other way around i.e. Start off as TD and then try to join corporate world to be CEO at 40 years old. You have lost that opportunity.
That's the reality of life and there is an opportunity cost that cannot be recovered. But, if you are happy as a TD, then it's your choice and your life. But, never regret that choice 20 years down the road.
