SINGAPORE - The first 5 units of the Digital Traffic Red Light Camera System have been installed and tested at their respective locations. They will begin operations from Mar 1, 2014 at 12.01am.
In Dec 2013, the Traffic Police posted on their Facebook page about the commencement of the installation, testing process, and the locations of these units.
The locations are at Victoria St by Arab St towards Lavender St, Victoria St by Ophir Road towards Bras Basah Road, Victoria St by Rochor Road towards Lavender St, Lavender St by Jalan Besar towards Balestier Road, and Ophir Road by Beach Road towards ECP.
Enhanced detection capabilities
The new digital cameras do not require constant reloading and retrieval of the wet-film negatives for back-end processing and are designed to stay operational 24/7 to detect motorists who attempt to beat the red light.
Beating the red light can potentially result in accidents causing injuries, or even the loss of innocent lives.
The Traffic Police would like to remind all motorists that beating a red light attracts a fine and 12 demerit points against the traffic offender.
Beat the red light twice within 24 months and your license will be suspended as you would have accumulated 24 demerit points.
Commander of Traffic Police, Assistant Commissioner of Police Cheang Keng Keong, said, "Whether or not there is a traffic red light camera installed at a junction, one should never attempt to beat the red light. You may be able to shave off some time but you run the greater risk of getting involved in an accident. That is also the spirit of Safer Roads Singapore, where we hope to make safe and courteous road use habitual and instinctive. Every Life Matters. Let us recognise the impact of our own behaviour on road safety and do our part."

How about those who don't give way when signaling to change lane? Or horn at u when u go slow. These r the frequent nuisance

Recently those private car turn TP have been operating again.....
Be more careful on the road.....
Knn, budget2014 say want to take care of pioneer.....
Jiak lut liao, dong dong, CPF up, conservancy charges also up.....
I think summon will go up also.....

Does it mean if kenna flashed at these junctions B4 1st March 2014 , then won't kenna summon ???

Meaning now, if you kenna, there is a 50/50 chances they may not be able to take you due to poor film and timing of the photos. Now with the newer camera, 100% you will kenna -

If you wind down window and show your centre finger outside, this type limpek won't let him go off 1, so far haven't met any daring cb kia, but limpek show many time to other drivers liao, luckily bo tio stomp yet.....
But if you show inside your vehicle.....
I take it as you bo lang par type lor......

U kena? 2 in 1. Catch beating red light and speeding.
1. If red light and u cross, kena.
2. If green or orange light and you chiong to cross before turn red, also kena. For speeding.

And more important is that the shooting is widened, it included the whole junction yellow box, so if you suddenly jam brake and cross over pedestrian crossing and abit out into the yellow box, and think..heng ar..manage to stop in time... the camera will also shoot, and you shall be charge under nos 3 3. Negligence/dangerous Driving
