\There are many old folks who still prefer wet wet market, even you put the whole of NTUC cum SS cum Shop and save or prime below, they also want to go wet wet market. This issue was last noted when SS and NTUC wanted to buy all the wet markets in Singapore to sell their product under airconditioned market, and all stall owners will come under rental + must order everything from them. Then all these stall owners bang tables, kbkp, public also bang tables..then govt scare lost votes. bo biah, allow them to carry one lor. -
Like TD, last time ownership, now become hirer and somemore must purchase their fuel for better discount and follow their rules and regulations, but that time, TD never kpkb and bang table, so now lan lan lor. If today TD is still ownership of his or her own taxi and Govt wants to change to hirers and no ownership, I think my ex chief will holds a taxi protest at LTA office in Sin Ming, sure win one..

And that $1.20 drink make him lose his job.....

First, our Goberment announce the changes of private operator taxi licensing that time, using law and act to curb transferring and selling of individual license.....
Before those TD can react.....
This big coy offer $10k per license to lure the "bait", if you sell, not only you will get $10k, you can still keep driving your own cab and this big coy will do spraying of colour for you FOC, than got call to take also.....
Term are just too good to reject, arbo, your license will remain a worthless piece of paper......
So you can see the picture? Everything is in "proper procedure"......

So now if TD is to offer back govt 20k to get back their ownership and also, able to spray the red or blue or maroon back to their own color free, you think govt give u back the ownership..also proper procedure mah

Whereas, no matter how outstanding a TD will to be, the earning will still be more or less the same compare to thoseeven lousy TD......

When yr old peer sold his licence, he believes as an individual, it is lucky for him, however, what scenarios will it be if he had not sold and that no TD in Singapore sold their licence. Fren, govt will not absorb any empty business nor do any charity to us, they see the lucrative in this transportation of people business, any old TD today who experienced ownership of taxis can tell you that if they had saved during those years instead of spending it on horses and women, they would be living at seranggoon garden or any private houses in Singapore.

Yes, the govt use laws and orders to curb, but what if all TDs do not agree, what if all hold a protest??\ In the 90s, if you are the protest leaders, you can go whitley to past yr days, and that is why no TD dare to oppose. But if it is today condition, like the hawker issue, govt can also use laws and order to buy over, but they track back,..why? because of Votes mah. There is a very much different between short and long term vision, TDs are mostly good in short term vision, but our govt are good in long term vision, and that is why TDs fell into the trap and now LLST lor....Lan Lan Suck Thumb

Hawkers also fall under the Hawker Act hor, thick thick read until head gong gong hor.....
Is not impossible if our Goberment would enforce law on them, is just that time not right yet, recently hawker centre also in limelight hor.....

If Govt is to enforce it, come 2016, I can tell you they are going to lose another GRC and a few single seats. And at that point of time, WP will tell them, last time, we told you we are just a co driver. But now we are your relief driver. If you look at current govt intiatives of cooling housing, trying hard to cool COE, give older people better medical benefits and so on..you think they are not worry? The atmosphere of today paint a total different stories of yesterday, just a simple example, last time when a minister come, everyone stand up, greet and shake hand with him, now he walks by, also nobody fark care, end up he have to look for people to shake hands just for the sake of media good exposure.
