Taxi is not the solution to rushing for time. No government policy is taken into consideration of provide taxi with smooth travelling time. With many of hazard on the roads, TD needs to be more carefully not to pay the high penalty (many tens, hundreds or even thousands times or more) of a mistake. Long hours of driving on the road may affect concentration and alertness of TD.
As explained in my early post, cheaper taxi cost is not the government policies. Key consideration of taxi vehicle is reliable and safe not cheap cost.

In LTA Taxi availability standard peak hour periods are 6am-7am, 11pm - 12 midnight, 7am-11am and 5pm-11pm.
The current fares peak hours are 6am - 9:30am and 6pm - 12 midnight.
There is inconsistent understanding on LTA peak hours and current fares peak hours.
To ensure consistent understanding and expectation on peak hours.
Please highlight these differences and the possibility to establish a common understanding of peak hours among all parties. While the different type of taxi fares cause confusion to the public, the inconsistent in the peak hours used by different parties also cause confusion to TD. If something can be done for the public to address the confusion, certainly, something can be done for the TDs to address the confusion .

In Singapore, do you see in any industry/area that such trend is happening? If an increasing price trend is acceptable to other industry/area, why it is not acceptable on taxi fares.The same mindset should apply. If people can queue at hawker centre, food court, restaurant, shopping payment, banking, etc. Long waiting time before call centre pick up their calls. Why commuters complain about waiting time to get taxi?
If commuter cannot wait and want to jump queue, there is mechanism already in place to address such needs; i.e. via booking. There is always taxi available to meet such demand otherwise you won't see any taxi pick up commuter at the taxi queue. Getting the available taxi to meet the booking demand is not the TD's responsiblity but an area that LTA/taxi companies need to address.

Saying is easy, mindset change...but then if pax, govt and taxi company mind already set, how to change. TD is the mid of any hamburgers, top exploited you with grease and cheese, below whack you up with mayonasie and mustard. In a normal situation, pax perspective on a taxi is alway the taxi drivers, no taxi, TD koon, TD lazy, TD keng peak hours, surcharges and so on. There will never be a situation of no taxi, govt fault, taxi companies fault, that is the norm of every pax on the road who cannot get a taxi at their desired time and location, not to mention the services provided by the taxi driver is also consider an important clause in their judgement. And then again, in a normal situation, LTA will impose rules and regulations on taxi companies, taxi companies will pressure the TD to carry out their job within the expectation of the rules and regulations, and end up, they get more quotas to buy more taxis which is equal to more profit, and more taxis meaning more COE and road tax collection for LTA, which is also the govt. So, in mid of all these, lies the poor TD who have to 1. satisfy the pax 2. satisfy the taxi companies 3. satisfy the LTA (govt) In any hamburger you eat, guess the best part to eat is the juicy burger, and that is where we are.

Money is always there for TD to grab.....
But if no pax willing to pay so much for a ride.....
Give us $0.50 per jump also no use.....
I'm not talking cock here, when 1st fare hike happen many many years ago, 35% peak hour surcharge, it took nearly a year for pax to settle down and start taking taxi again, no joke.....
That 1 year, only the toughest TD can survive.....

now merc 0.30 all sit till song song cdg testing period over so now increase normal taxi to 0.30

There bound to be people who mind or don't mind paying a bit extra to sit a Mercedes.....currently....
But if overnight increase to $0.30 jump for all taxi, the effect will be like domino effect.....
We can't estimate how long people will siam taking taxi.....
A while? Few months? Or a year?.....
But don't forget we have to service our rental everyday.....
We can't afford to have a tremendous drop in our daily trips.....
In this current unstable state for taxi industry.....
Any negative announcement won't serve us TD any good.....
Increase in fare? Ask yourself, do you want the whole year like December school holiday period?.....
And I can tell you, it will.....

Follow HK style.
Flat rate $3.00 flag down and jump $0.30.
No smlj surcharge.
After midnight, $3 surcharge, jump still the same.
Like that, easier to accept.
Why must peak hrs have surcharge?
Ike that, many OMO only drive during those period. Simple, flat rate is the best.
Those ccb scholars think too much lah.

hehehe... Gentlemen, let put this into perspective, you know that cdg and most big taxi companies are link with govt, who are a big chunk of the shareholders. What transpired here is just a proposal under a committee, how the top board is going to look at it, it is all business in respect of millions if not billions. As a tea n coffee server, I have no idea when is this going increment going to be on board, but the meeting agenda was to increase cdg fares, and a proposal was reached and submitted for review, alter and approval. What I can gather here is that if it approved the fare hike, it might also come with the expense of rental hike, current sonata had been increasing in rental. And the recent Transport authority who also proposing an increase to MRT and Bus fare hike, this is very sensitive as the ground people will be very agitated even with a few cents increasing, but the ironic is that like it or not, Bus and MRT fares must hike due to improvement in MRT and BUS driver paid (also need to thanks the PRC drivers strike), how much, still under consideration, but once it hike, cdg taxi might hike along. March is the financial year end for most companies including all taxi companies, after it, it will hike, bearing in mind CNY is around the corner, any movement can be harmful to the public at large, for this, the committee taken note. So, back to casket driving, casket driving is going to increase its disposal price by $10, which is about 7% increment, a usual half day disposal price of $250, in which the the driver only take between 70 to 150 depending on the day and hardship needed, with a 7% increase, driver like me can only take in more.. about 3% of it, rest of it, the cb companies take. So, if you think you need to book, book now.
