if i help the pax, pax find me very funny..
actually, is it possible for the taxi companies to buy cheap car models and use them in their taxi fleet? This may reduce costs and lower taxi fare.
After all, isn't cheap/budget car model (eg: Made-in-China cars) + expensive/high-performance engine = expensive car model (eg: Made-in-Japan cars) + expensive/high-performance engine?
Personally, in my opinion, I feel that when comes to transport, what is important is only the travelling time - and the affordability. I do not care about the comfort level; whether or not got air-con or whether or not the seats are leather or cotton.
When comes to transport, I just want low fares and fast travelling times.
just receive another gd news thru sms
"Eligible hirers will receive a one-time road tax rebate of $153 on 2 Jan 2014 evening. It will be credited into your bank account via GIRO"
One reason why people take taxi is because they are rushing for time, and they know that they cannot reach their destination on time if they take public transport. So, I guess it is acceptable that they pay a premium price to take taxi, since "time is money".
Nonetheless, taxi companies should explore ways to lower costs - without hurting the wages/income of taxi drivers and associated employees working for the taxi companies.
One possible way is to purchase cheaper car models, while purchasing the same engine that they have been using. Another possible way is to use chaper seats in the cars...
10 years ago, there were several new taxi companies set up to reduce the share Comfort has on Singapore's taxi industry; to create competition in the taxi industry of Singapore.
Isn't ensuring affordability supposed to be one of the benefits of competition?
Are there really benefits of having competition in our taxi industry?
It seems to me that Comfort is still controlling the taxi industry. When it increases its taxi fares, the other taxi companies will follow suit.
Can there be a change someday, where a taxi company lowers its taxi fares, and the other companies also follow suit?
Actually, it is possible to reduce fares - without hurting the income of employees. But is depends on whether or not the taxi companies bother to even think about it.
Just my two cents worth.

Flag now remain the same.
The reason I go for meter running increment because of the stupidity of the 2 cts and more importantly, in term of earning, it is more lucrative for TDs base on distance. Yet psychological speaking, flag down fares is alway paxs priorty, they seem to careless on distance running.
So, gentlemen, those who drivng cdg or are going to drive cdg, good luck and all the best. The Q will get longer.

The main bulk of a vehicle cost comprises COE and taxes impose by the government. A good reference of a vehicle cost is its OMV value. At the moment, a typical price of a vehicle in Singapore is more than 5 times its OMV value. In addition, the major taxi companies profit needs to be ever increasing to please their shareholders, which is mainly from the governnent. With such high costs and profit margin, how to expect cheap taxi cost to taxi hirer? The high cost will be reflected in the taxi fares but it is not going to benefit that TD.
Since taxi almost utilize 24 hours a day and 365 days a year. Key considerations of Taxi vehicle needs to be reliable and safe rather than cheap.
Travel time depend on traffic flow. With many traffic lights, pedestrian crossing, priority given to public buses and common slow traffic or jam in expressway, it will not contribute to smooth travelling time. LTA/traffic police heck care of traffic jams. do you see them when there is a traffic jam?
