SINGAPORE - Superheroes, race cars and cartoon characters may be the themes that many children desire for their birthday parties. But all Magnus Axson Hanell wanted for his third birthday was a "blue taxi cake".
That's not all the boy, who has a Swedish father and a British mother, got at his birthday party yesterday.
His mother organised a party with games, food and decorations based on the theme of the ubiquitous blue taxi.
And ComfortDelGro, with its signature blue cabs, even provided decorations.
To add the icing on the cake, Singapore's largest taxi operator arranged for one of their latest Euro 5 Hyundai i-40 taxis to stop by in a driveway at Magnus' home at The Trillium in Kim Seng Road for photo opportunities.
"Magnus has been asking for a blue taxi cake for months. He'll tell anyone who will listen 'blue taxi cake, blue taxi cake'," said his mother Sarah Axson, 36.
"But I was like, if there's going to be a blue taxi cake, this party's going to have to a blue taxi theme. And it all just went from there."
Ms Axson contacted Comfort- DelGro last month to ask if it could contribute old posters for the party.
The company gathered a box of Comfort and CityCab memorabilia, including posters, framed photographs of its taxis and two palm-sized taxi models.
It was the first time the company has received such a birthday request.
"It's quite common for young kids to be hooked on cars but they are usually (requesting) McQueen (a character from Pixar's Cars)," said group corporate communications officer Tammy Tan.

The company, she added, was thrilled to help Ms Axson when it heard of Magnus' love of Comfort taxis.
Guests at the party, were treated to taxi-shaped sandwiches. They also placed "shift change" signs on a taxi model.
A cake-maker friend of Ms Axson's baked the taxi-shaped cake and cupcakes decorated with blue taxis.
Ms Axson said Magnus has been interested in blue taxis since he was just 18 months old, pointing out blue taxis as she pushed him along in his stroller.
"I don't know why myself, but it was always the blue taxis. Never the yellow ones," she said.
"We've had occasions where we've been queueing ages for a taxi and whenever one came that wasn't a blue one, and he would be unhappy and wouldn't get into it."
The family - Ms Axson, her husband, Magnus, and his five-year-old sister Hanna - have lived in Singapore since 2011.
They do not own a car and travel by taxi often.
Magnus often keeps himself occupied while waiting for his sister's school bus to pull up to their condominium by counting blue taxis whizzing past.
When he gets restless, his parents hand him an Apple iPad and let him look at photos of blue taxis.
"The boy can barely speak but he knows his taxis," said Ms Axson with a laugh.
"We can use it to keep him quiet for ages."
