ComfortDelGro taxis to install in-vehicle cameras

SINGAPORE: ComfortDelGro is fitting its fleet of 16,600 taxis with an in-vehicle camera, starting from Monday.
The exercise is expected to be completed by the first quarter of 2014. The cost of installing the cameras and its maintenance is to be borne by the company.
In a statement on Friday, the company said the in-vehicle camera is being installed as an added safety and security measure.
Placed behind the rear view mirror, the cameras are programmed to start recording once the engine is turned on and will do so continuously for up to four hours.
Its sensor is also able to activate one-minute video recordings the moment it detects sudden shocks to the taxi.
ComfortDelGro said it ran a trial with the camera in June this year and it has received positive feedback from its drivers.

This one already fix on a some cdg taxi for the past few months liao, it was introduced by this china company as a trial run, free. So, later, drivers feedback was very positive, so the contract is on, 15,000 to be fix up free, and because of large order and future dealing such as upgrading, the price was cut below $50 per cam with 1 year warranty, further more there will be a repair centre for repair or exchange, location same as MDT repair location at City cab sin ming. This contract was on after some top cdg jiak liao bee executives was given a free vist to Shenzhen (come with spa, KTV lounges and .....). So end up not only jiak lui, also jiak bak
