Sporeans in most professions are generally well-fed compared to countries with cheap labour. Looking at the big picture, many employees in various industries as well as civil service are much more well-fed than cabbies. So the solution is to let in foreign workers to give these “spoilt locals� a run for their money? Even if FT is let in, will they forego callbookings, brave the traffic congestions, ERP to get to Orchard , say Taka taxi stand to pick street paxs? Drive like this and they will not earn enough to pay the high rental to the Taxi Companies. Furthermore Companies have incentives/quota to encourage cabbies to take calls. For e.g. Comfort hv a quota for new cabbies to take calls as part of “performance� review. Will the the Fts forego the incentives and go against Company directions? The day they let in Fts is the day I will leave this profession (I believe many other fellow cabbies). But don worry, think we will leave quietly and not start a riot…

I think many in singapore like to compare with others, however, please remember this is singapore, the land of high COE and housing, the land without any natural resources and a land that depend very much on human resources to support it economy which is rated as one of the best in Asia. So, before one start to compare taxis with other countries like aust, canada, hk or US of A, please relook at our situation, which is uniquely different. And to face the fact, Singapore taxis services was rated as one of the top in the world, and that include our transportation, but being brought up in a complaining society, I can understand people like Mr Sim agony and frustration in not able to hop on a cab as he wanted, but there are choices. People should treasure what we have now then to keep talking abt others, for many foreigners here, Singapore is the best place for them.

Pinoy and PRC are already taxi drivers after getting their citizenship here, if PR is allow into the taxi trade, I can only tell you that all taxi companies will be Q at full Q, all taxi academy and test Centre will be full, thousands will be applying...and this tell you what? It tell you that PR status given to foreign talents by Singapore govt are indeed trash

With the kind of fcuk type local and ang mo pax that we get, I really pity the TD if he is a foreign worker as he will be easily bullied, get scolded at, abused and even beaten up. Maybe kena raped also.
Only local taxi uncle can and dare to stand up to the kind of abuses thrown at them by those f**king local and ang mo paxs.
