TAXI companies do not address the needs of customers. Instead they are focused on meeting the demands of cabbies, who do not place emphasis on customer service.
In the past, when cabbies owned their vehicles instead of renting them from taxi operators, they worked hard to pay off their bills.
Due to high car prices now, some taxi divers use their vehicles for private purposes after meeting the minimum service requirements.
Also, there is a need to raise the professionalism of cabbies, promote driving a taxi as a worthwhile vocation, and open up the job market to allow more competition.
If the Land Transport Authority (LTA) is serious about limiting the growth of the car population, then it needs to work out an alternative transport system for the upper middle-class group, who would otherwise continue to buy cars and push up prices further.
The LTA will need to regulate fares and raise service standards if it considers taxis a form of public transport.
The taxi operating system requires a total overhaul. The objective is to make the service more customer-centric and part of the public transport system.
Self-employment incentives for drivers could be considered, instead of the present system of having cabbies rent their vehicles. One way is to allow privately own taxis.
Seem like they are expecting too many stuffs fm a ordinary td whose job is to bring pax fm point a to b nia lol
i realise the taxi companies are more concern about their daily rental payment from TD; same like our PAP. they dont even do anything study on the market. They only study the market of TD whether they fulfil the 250km mileage, tt's all.
Cost, pay bills to the PAP first, the rest talk later...
What rubbish is the writer writing?
Pls lor. Every driver knows when is the peak period.....and will sure drive during those period....
Those who hit target and rest early.....aft 1-2am, is already the lull period and plenty empty cabs cruising and queueing. So what is wrong if some hit target and keep???
Yes, this idiot surely nv drive a cab and kpkb.
Fark the writer. Only know how to kpkb.
Last week, I picked up a well travelled tourist. He was full of praise for Singapore taxi drivers. They speak good English and are polite and nice. He says China taxi drivers are the worst. They scold you, complain a lot and chase you out of their taxis. He gave me a nice tip at the end of the trip to St Regis hotel.
Ppl like the writer are just frogs in the well, living a sheltered life and only know how to complain.
If taxi service is so bad as portrayed, then why are Comfort, Citycab and SMRT allowed to increase their fleet for meeting the KPIs consistently?
