Seems most pax not happy with local TDs
Attitude, poor knowledge of roads, etc
Generally see TDs as uncle, ah pek, with little education ...
Look at TDs as people that can't get a proper employment, then become TD.
Its to them, any Tom, Dick, Harry, can be a TD as long as fulfill the simple requirements.

Who cares...Pax pay you and you drive them off to their destinations. Happy start meter and pick up or else tell them off and drive away.
Remember...they wont sit your taxi forever..they are your transportation customers..just like you provide a service to them..
If they see you up do you expect to pay you tips or more tips...at the end of the trip, they dun own you anything but cab fares...they dun hire you..you dun talk relations to them, they are just strangers to you...
Most importantly, you just feel happy most is to achieve your daily income and spend your happy times with family or your true friends.
There's no need for pax to see us up....
Got money to pay the fare is good enough.....
Sometime, I also see pax no up....
"Sorry, your card declined, got another 1?"....
"Sorry, declined again".....
My top record, 5 cards all declined, ended up ask his colleague to cum down and help.....
I got one incidents 3yrs ago that this pax nets card Posb and DBS rejected on card machines when reached her flat..She insisted that her bank got money and we even tried a few atm kiosk at tampinese and that was during midnight...later she call bank and found out that all bank transaction for POSB & DBS were down that midnight..I almost thought that I met a pax who will be running my fare $30+...lol

Fact : 60% of TDs are above 50 years old. That means for every 5 TDs u meet, 3 are lau unkers.
Fact : Majority of those over 50 years old today have little education.
So, it is no surprise that ppl have the perception that TDs are uncles with little education. Many ppl also have friends or relatives who are TDs that fit such a profile.
In an Asian society, job status and education levels are important. Humans have a tendency to generalise.
Taxi driving is certainly not a glamorous job that everyone aspires to have.
I don't care if pax looks down on me. In fact, it may be a good thing since expectations will not be high.
As long as we don't quarrel with pax, most just want to be able to get from pt A to pt B safely. They don't expect you to give a super high standard of service cos they think that you are not educated, so can't expect much from you anyway.
Be professional in your job. Since expectations are not high, any slightly better service that you provide like a good smile, be courteous and know your roads well will put you one step ahead of others.
Use that perception to your advantage.
I'm not a TD, but after that I came to read the threads here, I always respect TD de.
Everywhere, every industry, every coy, also have black sheep one...

Sometime with this kind of situation....
I will take out my own ATM or credit card and try swiping....
If transaction approved, (no problem, still will credit to my UOB account the next day)....
Than pax will lan lan 1.....
Especially those so call "credit card" pax....

Promise to transfer but never transfer, and is a taxi driver also....
After hang up, start to joke between them about how stupid that TD is, got her handphone number, why scare, she don't transfer, so desperate meh.....
I beh loon liao, stop my cab and fark them upside down....
When people are relax on principle, this are the cb kia who took advantage of it and even joke about it....
No money, card cannot go through, kanna me, I got plenty of time, make sure you get help from anywhere, I can wait....

Swee!! Steady pom pi pi
but there's some pax, classify us 'easy to eat' kind of people. But I come to realised one thing, keep calm (no major reaction) in any kind of good or bad situation, pax more or less know u are a lao jiao.
Once a group of pax (should be tourist), wants to go taka. Part of their group left slightly earlier by another cab.
During journey ask if this is the 'right' route. I replied since u replied me for fastest way, this is my best knowledge.
But when I was turning in to the driveway, they asked me if this is the right stop. Upon alighting their friends no where to be seen yet..

Like keepthechange666, hammer and my bro ct..all never respect me on leh, see me only…call me siao eh! bo go geyland ar? paxs in my cab hear already, see me no up liao.
By the way, since most are in their 50s and above, naturally our lanjiao also no up liao, dun blame the pax lah. What you expect them to do, kowtow to you, say please, sorry, thank you to you??? tan ku ku hor, they are the ones that put food on your table hor.
And you must also differentiate btw polite and status, some might say thank you out of their own cutlured politeness, but that does not represent they see you up hor, some ah bengs/lians never say thank you or please one..but they see you very high up, end trip, $15, give $20 and say keepthechange.
Keepthechange to taxi drivers, frankly speaking is one of the most polite and see you up word.
LOL
keepthechange - nice phrase
for some, will say make it $XX,
'they are the ones that put food on your table hor' - and because of this, some really tekan u
dunno its coincidence or what, 5 out of 10 TDs i know, got either family relationship issues, or undesireable financial problems
they hang around outside too much, get involved with some 'female workers' that were once their pax
some go casino, too much into betting
sigh
"And most of these with mistresses, gamble, affair are mostly OMO."
Waw piang!....
Say like that will die many people you know....
I admit, I'm the 2nd type....
