A banking director was fined $4,000 and ordered to pay $1,000 compensation on Friday for assaulting a taxi driver two years ago.
According to an article in The Straits Times Online, Briton Mason Robert Alford, 41, admitted to punching Mr Tan Chin Huat, 58, in the face along the East Coast Park expressway on Dec 14, 2011.
The court hard that Mr Tan picked up Alford, the regional head of the Asia-Pacific region for credit analysis, near Lau Pa Sat hawker centre at about 1am that day. Alford, who was reeking of alcohol, told the driver to go to Eastwood condominium in Bedok.
Along the ECP, Alford suddenly began to shout, kicked and shook the cabby's seat several times. The victim told him to calm down. Alford again began shouting again and pressed down on the victim's shoulder forcefully. He also threw several punches in the victim's direction and one landed on his left cheek.
The cabby kept telling Alford to calm down, and drove towards the direction of the police station.
At the junction of Marine Parade Road and Still Road, the victim was forced to get out as Alford continued to hit him. Mr Tan tried to calm Alford down, and eventually managed to drive to the nearest police station.
KNN how come I dun have this kind of lobang. Long long liao I want to teach this kind of AMDK some lesson. Good excuse to wallop him while he is drunk next day wun rememeber a thing....
If for self defence, I swift my taxi to the left hit the lamppost or something hard(depending which side the cb pax sitting), can or not?......
Might result in fatality, but self defence mah......
Dun like this lah, what for, calm down, why need to bang here and there, cos own vehicle get knocked, although you can get accuses, but lots of talking and paper work to be done, then end up also less income, mai lah, let get back to our basic objective of driving taxis
1. To relax and be happy with our own time and own decision
2. To be simple and contend
3. To earn a decent living so as to be able to cater to our daily basic need
Baring these in mind, problem such as drunk and siao lang can be avoided.
This taxis driver actually did the right thing to drive to police station, but what he did wrong was that he is not a smart (SMART) night driver, did not lock door, did not smell the reel of alcohol, but then yao overtook him, at 1am, at lau pa sat, sure take lah, maybe on way to CQ or BQ, then end up one guy there, thot, wha! lucky nite.
Even worst to worst to the extend that you need to take a drunken, take a lady drunken, for this, I am very skill in it, carried many ladies out liao.
