600 hybrid taxis to join SMRT fleet

SINGAPORE - SMRT Corporation Ltd (SMRT) will be bringing in 600 Prius Hybrid taxis over the course of next year, making it the largest hybrid fleet owner in Singapore.
With this fleet, environmentally friendly taxis will now account for approximately one-fifth of SMRT's total fleet of over 3,500 taxis.
In a statement to the press, SMRT revealed that the Prius taxis will progressively be made available from Oct 25 onwards.
Passengers can look forward to a smoother and quieter taxi ride.
Senior Vice President of SMRT Roads Mr Benny Lim said: "Opting for Hybrid vehicles is a conscious move on SMRT's part in generating more positive environmental footprint on roads.
"We are also pleased to share that beyond enhanced features like better stability, driving mode switch, our taxi partners will also benefit from lower fuel costs from the vehicle's greater fuel efficiency features."
"Commuters who wish to travel green can specifically request for a green taxi when they book with us through our hotline."

1L give u 20km easily. so it cheaper than comfort $1.15 diesel
(sonata average 8-9km/l)
the 1800cc even better fc..
power wise..... can only smell sonata smoke...

and behind the scene it don't reveal the desperation that smrt has getting people to sign up. fare is 3.80 flagdown. rental is 133 ex gst.
my present hirer baulked at the rental price and his cab is 4 half months from slaughter.
another hirer has his new epica (rental 123) for almost 3 months and they just called ask him to change to prius!!!
and the prius was suppose to launch on the 20th, cannot make it cos not enough td sucker to take.

aiyo pirus...bo lat lah, how to go airport? later throw ah neh's pictures and bags again...then if got 4 big sizes pax like hammer want to board, knn, how to go up the slope into PIE? or ECP rocher?
Notice Singapore cab are getting lower in CC and spaces, drive liao also buay song.

Of course lah, if not call hybrid, it is more costly to purchase, and also maintainenace wise, also more costly.
If fuel consumption is less, why push the flare to 3.80? why hirer need to pay 133 excluding Gst.. another Conspiracy theory
Logically taxi fare should peg more to oil prices, oil prices up, price up, oil prices down, surcharges or flag down reduce..

Aiya...all already calculated one lah.
Difference in rental $10. Flag down increase by $0.40. Everyday must pick 25 pax to cover the extra $10.
Means what? Either drive longer hours or find relief. U think leh?

I think Prime Taxi still have the lowest rental rate for their Hybrid taxi, correct me if I'm wrong....

No matter how you look at it, or how you keng and calculate on taxi rental of all taxis companies, once you signed and rented it out, all hell begin

They take new taxi sure says eh sai mah. Not hardworking why $70 crown cmi? Drive one morning peak collect $100 cover rental fuel can shake lam pah at home. If drive $13X taxi can? Go figure. If the new hirer tell me this I tell him mai kong LJ wei....Lol

It is good to think that you are good in math, at least you can keep counting the money. That help to reduce dementia of being alone in the cab for too long

Now back to driving crown till feb.
Low rent is still the best. Cover rental half hour earlier you'll be less stress.
$20 lesser in rental for a shift looks peanuts on daily basis, till you multiply on a weekly... monthly basis.

How much is crown rental 70 or 80? If got relief lagi song,but hor no matter how high rental goes still got ppl take n be omo leh

Permier Crown is 74 a day but no stock. maybe lta should extend to life spend of crown taxi, but LTA should remove taxi from coe and assign the coe according to demand in the market. Again when economic is good who care about taxi driving?

That is why I am on crown...taxi is like women, the more expensive and prettier ones, the more costly to maintain them.....take a bak bak, a bit not so good looking one...cheaper mah -
Driving crown got its limitation la......
Currently, those left over crown in the market condition si beh jiak lut 1.....
My friend took out a replacement cab to continue dang jiak, his sonata overhaul.....
Never know ended up go "lo koon chu".......
He told us, never ever feel so stress driving taxi, that farking crown like anytime going to break apart.....
After every 2, 3 trips, he feel like going to faint and must stop.....
And true enough, injure his spine after 1 week of driving crown.....

Some TD can tarhan crown becos since day 1, that crown already with him, long service award.....
If you have change to sonata, or Chevrolet or Renault or Mercedes before, not easy to drive back crown.....
No doubt rental is cheap, but cheap also got to give back in other way.....

He too long never exericse lah, that is why I told you sex is good, can do so many pattern, then later drive crown, spine also can shift here and there, and perform many pattern on the road.
Peoples are just getting too pamper liao, saw some younger drivers only drink starbuck or macdonald kopi, limpeh wonder how are they going to survivie
