STOMPer Muhammad was heading towards Sunshine Place near Choa Chu Kang Ave 4 last night (Oct 19) when he saw thick smoke coming from a taxi that had caught fire.He wrote:
"Taxi on fire at Choa Chu Kang.
"On Oct 19 at around 10.20pm, I was walking towards Sunshine Place near Choa Chu Kang Ave 4 when I saw thick smoke.
"I saw an SMRT taxi had caught fire."

The taxi should be under too mush stress running 24/7 non stop. If do OMO like me best. Morning 3-4 hours evening 3-4 hours confirm taxi enough rest.

Taxis burnt is fast becoming common, touch wood and lucky driver do not get burnt, otherwise, can save the cremating cost.
As taxis thrive on speed, turbo, higher cc...++longer hr on the road to cover this and that, to meet this and that requirement, thing such as burning might become a common sight, which we are actually seeing it now.

But National Taxi Association adviser Ang Hin Kee rejected the idea when contacted by The Straits Times.
"We have already put in enough standards to prevent the taxi driver from slacking. He has to drive about 12 hours to meet the high rental, ERP and fuel costs. How much harder do you want to make the taxi driver work?"
The better alternative is to get fresh cabbies to become relief drivers first, instead of letting them rent their own cabs, said Mr Ang.
"It is about getting more drivers to work a single vehicle harder, not make the driver work harder."

I have said many times liao, that Ang is a people orientated person, why so, because in politics, you need to be people orientated and not asset orientated, as such, he needs to satisfy the people, especially those he needs support from, and TDs is a potential group of people he hopes that can sarpork him in a diminishing MIW coming next election.
But if today, he is appointed as SNEF, Singapore National employer federation, advisor respresenting Taxi companies management. You think he will talk about people (taxi drivers) or asset (the taxis). He will sure to talk about asset, in reverse, the sentence can become
The taxis is a money making machine, drivers should take care and take personal maintainence/responsibility over it, it is an asset of taxi company that bring about job creation, the hirer preferably should drive alone or just get one relief, otherwise, a machine is a machine, it will get burnt up.
You see the different, so dun fool by them lah hor

Do not underestimate TDs mouth of words, as we ply the roads day in and out, we meet all kinds of people, and a general thumb up for a certain politician or MPs is going to help them alots. Mr Ang and many other MPs or minsiters studied political science including psychology, they are alway a few step ahead of our thinking, that is why I alway remind you all, look at thing from different perspective, if just one angle only, that is very narrow view.
