if business is bad what can u do ah..today a few drivers get together chit chat at ap. got a driver teach claim vehicle downtime lo, no need rent, can rest somemore..lately really see a few more cabs hazard light open boot or kanna tow..is it coincidence?
another way is to cut queue. that day i was queuing outside hotel. got a yellow hired turn in. after let the pax out, he never drive away! just pretend park there like head of queue. got pax come out of hotel lobby..luckily the bellhop saw me earlier, he gesture me overtake the yellow and tell the pax board me. that driver stare at me like i snatch pax..
this last one i experience before.. is hijack booking!
When OTR, you will see all sorts of chut patterns one lah...
Yes, in order to survive in this tough market.....

Gentlemen, what is the month and date? it october and middle of the month, most peoples pocket are growing deeper, some are saving for year end holiday, and as most event like F1, NDP and mid year bonuses are all gone, most probably, these 2 months will be a low period for services, even other business.
TD if got free time, can try to learn another trade so that you can do other thing whenever times are bad. Moreover, it will be interesting and worthy as you learn and adapt to have more tools with you. And who knows, maybe you can end up not driving taxi altogether, but if you wants to stay on in the realm of taxis driving, so be it, it is not so bad, but thing like up and down, summons and hijacked, cheapo and cb paxs...will be part of your life.
If without hirer, how to becum relief?.....

You know my bro, there is thing call, "force to be" in our life. Sometime we never notice it, and at times, this "force to be" either by circumstances or one own decision, can end up as a blessing.
I believe that if hirer is to go full time, and all relief got no more job, they could end up with another job (full employment in singapore) that is more fulfilling than taxi driver, but because now, hirer need relief, and relief is still in the web of taxi driver and not force to move out, they might actually get stuck in taxi driving without the "force to be" unknowningly

Most people will still prefer to drive day time although is not that lucrative.....
But in order to live a normal life.....
As a relief, not easy to find someone who willing to let go day shift.....
So in this aspect, as a hirer, we got an upper hand.....

And now more are taking night due to long Q of youngster booking for taxis, give relief drive day and they drive night or OMO like you all your taxi life also can, youngs love night, like me, tho a bit old, no sun, clearer road, somemore got many balls to see, park here and there also no problem, day, knn...by midday, tired + hot +jam +lj pax mostly in hurry + sick peoples...mai lah, uncle me still want to live 30 years to see Terminal 5 hor.

Having been on both side of the fence, I have to say relief still one degree better than hirer.
Very few hirer like hammer can exist as OMO. After a time, hirers develop lot of bad habits that cos $ to flow out of their pocket.
Office job i sick take 1 day mc recover can already. As hirer I realise sick needs 2 days to recover; and tats in my late 30's. If you're in your 40's to 50's I suspect full recovery even longer.
Like tat rental arrears run up very fast. And what happened when you on suspension?
With rentals keep going up, unfortunately the hirer needs the relief (or reliefs) more and more.
rental below $90 omo still ok. got relief will earn more, but less freedom for personal use and less flexi driving hrs.
rental above $110. how to omo?? $130 no need tok liao.
so high rental is the way to go to force most drivers into partnership.
nowaday where got below $90??
then those 150 160 how?

he work the night shift.. then, servicing n taxi repair how?
his day relief do loh, without paying rental for that day..
that right, not a single dollar.. how many hirer can do that?

As long as hirer and relief talk is out about few basic taxi matters like who wash, who top up, who send for servicing...stick to it as a man, the relationship can last very long, both happy, no issues, better productivity, why not?
But human are human , tend to hv lots of pai kuan type, I feel you cheated me, I felt you never put full for me, I felt you alway late, or that your mileage more than me...jealous, envy and anger all mix up. Then one day, one issue only, everything boom out...and that end the relationship, at time, quite pity too.
Therefore, for people like my bro keepthechange this type of character, better to OMO, arbo, many relief will suffer
