Some disturbing trends on the road
Published on Oct 09, 2013I HAVE observed some disturbing trends over the past few months.
First, some taxi drivers either ignore passengers trying to flag down their cabs, or refuse to ply certain routes. This has become more frequent and it takes at least three or four attempts before I can find a cabby willing to take me to where I need to go.
It is not as if I travel to far-flung corners of the island. I live in the Meyer Road area and, on most days, travel either to the city or to Marine Parade.
Second, some taxi drivers wait for on-call jobs in the side lanes around Meyer Road and refuse to accept flag-down requests. The moment one walks towards these cabs, the drivers switch their signs to "busy".
I am sure this practice is not uncommon.
Third, a growing number of drivers do not stop at pedestrian crossings when they see people waiting to cross the road.
I have observed this at the junction of Mountbatten Road and Fort Road when I walk my child to school every morning.
This is an alarming trend. In most cases, the culprits are drivers of private cars. And even when they stop, their vehicles keep inching forward in a threatening manner while pedestrians are crossing the road. This has got to stop.

most usually go back CBD, so to max out the 'short trip', booking pax gets the priority

Some ppl really expect taxis go be like sushi on the conveyor belt...... Move round and round until u shiok then take.

For TransCab Bros, Let CT teach you a �招。
When you are in those 黑社会 （Mustafa, Meyer Rd, CBP etc),
1) Just start your Taxi Meter (Press OP), So your taxi are under HIRED,
those Cheapo can't STOP you.2) Then change to flat fare ($0.10) (Press K1+k4, then k2)
3) In your MDT bottom right corner there is a �soon to clear】 button, press it and it will disappear.
4) When your cab are under HIRED but MDT �soon to clear】 button is missing,your cab still available to take any call.
For CDG / SMRt Bros, you can do the same thing oso, as for other Taxi Companies, CT not sure how to do.
FUCK those FT Ah Nia.
My Fan was with CDG, One day he take a White Ah Nie Lady to Meyer road, the fare jus $13+, the lady give him a $50 Note and claim that she don't have small note.
My CDG fan L L and said Shit another $50 Later in Mandarin: 鸡蛋糕，怎么都是50�。 (She is his 5th Pax and there is his 5th $50)
Two day later, Simon invited him for Kopi Plus a Love Letter.
Todays he is another Red Devil

In india, to take 1 cab, they interview you for 10 minutes, talk about journey, price and all kind of shit, you hv to bargain, walk away or do a brother handshake, and the funny part is that you also not know if it is a taxis or a private car, and if taxis, which companies, no phone nos, cannot complain, then you go into a car seat with tears here and there, most with no aircon, even have, better to ask them to swtich it off.
And as the journey go on, you wonder if this guy got a real driving licence or a kopi one, and you certainly cannot sleep with their bumper roads more worst than a plane rough landing. Then you also might realise there are no side mirror, no handle to open the car door.
And then at the end of the trip someone will ask you how much you paid for the cab ride, and when you tell them, they will give you a smile as tho you had been chopped deep deep.
So Mr Ramesh (no S/O) Nara....., can you for once appreciate Singapore cab?

In India, they have the Caste system
Most of the Taxi Driver in India are under the lower caste: Shudra.
And from a person surname you can know that they are under which caste,: Royal family etc.
When MIW Import those Indian FT into Singapore, they miss out this VERY important point.
Today if you have a chance to chat with the White Indian,
About Mr Tharman Shanmugaratnam, Mr K Shanmugam etc,
These Royal caste FT will tell you Lucky they are in Singapore,
or else they will never in the cabinet. -
