my thinking and u cannot be the same.. Y??
because I come from a family of taxi drivers, life was not easy, yes, but it was not hard either
of course, if people had a choice, they wouldn't drive taxi too
people who drive taxi are those that put down Liao, see open then they will feel ok. If you not yet put down, cannot see open and felt that being forced by your circumstances to drive taxi, then u will never feel happy.

Leaving army reluntantly will always be my biggest regret.....
And my feeling is like after leaving army....
Jo wu jo bo few years, than becum a TD, than stop becum a TD....
This period of years spend, like not recorded inside my diary that kind of feeling.....

The problem is, until today, I still can't figure out why I can drive taxi for so many years.....
I also saw my seniors drvg taxis! I can say those above t0, all the jobs went to foreigners.
No lah, ah Fu, you must understand our demographic changes.
You see Ah Fu, singapore is facing 2 teething problems in term of employment, especially for technical and engineering jobs. First, the aging population and second an afluent young Singaporeans.
Age do play a critical role as most cannot do physical works like climbing up a vessel or a construction site stairways. And also, with age, eyesight become poor, cannot do many minor view work like electronic assembly, reading, fault finding and so on.
On the other hands, a well educated youngs tends to look for servicing jobs like banking, retail and hotels industrial, many had also become cooks, chef and captain of restuarant or manager of hotels, notice the boom in hotels??
With such background, we definitely must need foreigners, but good foreigners. Govt had tweated the quotas ratio between Locals and Foreigner, like engineering, formely is 1 is to 5, now reduce to 1 is to 3, by next year, employer have to employ singaporean first, unless unable to get, then apply for foreigner subject to approval.
Increased S pass to 2200 from 2000 and also EP from 2800 to 3300 is going make many foreigner packing their bag home.
Hopefully, we can see a reduction

Without foreign MNC, Sgrean also can go jiak sai liao....
I think beside cursing and swearing at FT, is better to look at our own self first....
Personally I felt that if you are working for foreign boss, be prepare he will bring in whole board of "ka ki lang".....
If you are working for local boss, be prepare to do more OT and under paid until OBK....
I always believe is the "natural culture" of the bosses that result in today situation....
For eg, a company who want to save on that few $ and decided to employ a cheap FT to do estimater job....
Ended up, this under qualify FT might screw up your whole project and make your coy go bust.....
You think all bosses so stupid?.....
Overall, people might have this perception FT is snatching our jobs but we have to ask ourself also, is our position in the company really that critical? or slowly becum redundant?.....
Than be prepared to be replace by cheap labour lor.....

Not really, MNC are king of exploitation, especially so on asian countries, but due to our govt dependency and wanting to move up the industrial ladder, MNC was actually invited in, MNC brings about job that under pay you, MNC pollute your air, MNC bring about sweat shop working. road and way of life, MNC also can be of a danger of moving out as they like, and that is why too much depending on them become a victim of them.
MNC to human rights group are the biggest exploitation of human, can pay Messi and ronaldo millions to wear their product, but put only $1.60 for a day work for a child in yojakarta working under hold sole and hand bleeding sowning without medical benefit nor off day, if you sick, out you go, the next one take over. A total exploitation of the poor and weak and govt just take corrupted money from them.
Today, Singapore knew that MNC is not much relevant, they swtich to knowledge economy like banking, biotech, sci and local enterprising.
Unlike Taiwan, japan, korean..instead of dependency on MNC, they created their own MNC to exploit others, like samsung, sony, acer...till now, what the fark we have?? NTUC fairprice ar??

Hu la, OSIM sell until nobody business....
Andy Lau also must give face.....
Hyflux sell water until tua tua dang dang....
Tia gong listed main board hor....
Hyflux is government own run by retired general and colonels, it thrive in china rural area whereby they convert pond and dirty water to pure drinking water for those kampong china. As of Osim, not really a good business and certainly not MNC.
Even AirAsia failed miserably in Japan, because some country will paid for anything that come with quality instead of quantity. Typically, most asian countries including china alway look for quantity, more rice, more veges..but careless of quality, in japan and some europe countries like german, north america..quality is the most important.
Hyflux long long in main board liao, start at only few cents, now blue chip liao, knn you still sleeping ar...but recently dropped

Olivia Lum....my idol....
Since when Hyflux becum goberment own?....
Although she is a former nominated MP, I don't think the company got anything to do with our goberment....
brother brother...I wonder you really understand singapore govt or not, anything that concern water, electricity, oil and land, our govt must have a hand on it, either openly or thru the back door.
Keppel and sembcorp are a big client of hyflux, now, who is keppel, who is sembcorp?
When I was in suzhou visiting hyflux, the CEO there, a former colonel told me, without govt influence, who is Olivia?
Brother, brother....as long the company profile doesn't show anything, we don't presume.....
Among their board of director, I don't see any ex-colonel or general also....
Rice can anyhow eat, but words cannot....
Hyflux is not the only company in Singapore cracking their head for our nation in term of water supply also.....
Of course they are the first to be success in desalination sea water which make them an advantage in this area, but that doesn't mean they got any relationship with our goberment.....
And who is Olivia Lum?...
Executive Chairman & Group CEO
Ms Lum started corporate life as a chemist with Glaxo Pharmaceutical and left in 1989 to start up Hydrochem (S) Pte Ltd, the precursor to Hyflux Ltd. Managing the Group for more than 20 years now, Ms Lum is the driving force behind Hyflux's growth and business expansion, and is responsible for policy and strategy formulation and corporate direction.
A former Nominated Member of Singapore Parliament, Ms Lum currently is a member of the Singapore-Tianjin Economic & Trade Council, the Singapore-Jiangsu Cooperation Council, Singapore-Zhejiang Economic & Trade Council, Singapore-Oman Business Council and Singapore Business Federation Council. She also sits on the board at International Enterprise Singapore.
Among the many accolades Ms Lum has received for her entrepreneurial achievements are: the Winner of the Regional Growth Award by Nihon Keizai Shimbun at the 11th Nikkei Asia Prize 2006, and the Ernst & Young World Entrepreneur Of The Year 2011.
Ms Lum holds an Honours degree in Chemistry from the National University of Singapore.
aiyo, again u believe in paper and notes, mai lah, limpeh earn alot from hyflux dividends and sold it in 2005 at $3++, now only $1++, after newater, hyflux went into domestic product, but failed miserably, so they go back to take large contract, and won the tuas disalination plant contract, all these are govt contract, if you look closely at hyflux shareholders porfolio, it will lead u to GIC which the whole world know.
Singapore had long gone privatisation from it state own business, pub is now private, singtel is consider pte, even posb and dbs are private, so is keppel SPH< sembcorp and so on. Most of taxis companies are also Govt link, TC link to union gas to temasek, and so on.
Ms Lum was a scholars recruited in by Ho ching, unlike lim hwee hua and many others, she choose not to be in politic, and venture into business on the backdrop of ho ching support, first suzhou singapore industrial built by govt was her first entry into china, her asset can be worth billions, but she is only abt 400 millions rich. Where does the other billions goes to??? Due to related, Goh chok tong, the then PM of singapore award her the newwater contract, and that is how hyflux, whose shares was bought by many govt ministers and agencies gain popularity.
I think we do not hv a generation gap, but different school of thot, you are alway paper straight, for me, thinking and figuring it out.

Like that Or Kim Peow also goberment own liao....
Paper straight so we don't mislead the public....
As for thinking and figuring it out, lai lai I buy you ang di gao, we slowly figure out....
Brother brother...there are many reason why govt privatised state own companies, first is to let their peoples learn the hard trade of business, remember the iron rice bowl theme, govt is trying to remove it...another...
is one of the most important to them, to deviate responsibility and yet earn good profits, power suppy, SPC, CNG, hyflux, ST marine, keppel and so on, all privatised, POSB, DBS, Singtel, starhub so, what happen. Last time when govt increase electricity, water and oil prices, all kpkb the govt, fark them upside down, now, they tell you, sorry, these are all run privately with Founder and CEOs who have good citations and reputation, and these prices increase are all due to market forces, economy forces...not us.
You see the picture? Now why cdg privatised? why TC run by private, why SMRT got CEO? because they can raise fares up to them mah, not govt problem hor, but behind the scene, they profited

This companies we have been discussing not even state own before what.....
As long the company profile don't have the existance of GIC link, than we shall not presume or assume there is.....
Than you put all those wu bo companies together and compare, how can?.....
Since we only talking about Hyflux.....What Singtel, DBS should not cum into picture leh.....
And please don't tell me they are all link....
Maybe Tiong Woon also goberment own? they have at least 70% of crane business in SG? LJ la......
Brother brother, you must understand what govt said when they mention essential protection, what are our basic essential?
It is the basic neccessities for a nation to operate in time of peace and also unforseen circumstances like wars, strikes, protest or Foreigner attack locals..lols
Food, electricity, oil, transport, gas, water, rice and many other daily needs are essential to any nation survivor, as such, govt must hv a hand on it, they are entrusted by the people who voted for them to take care of at least our basic needs, they can involve directly or indirectly, but they must hold responsibility.
To cut it short instead of having to bear my lor sor...What is tiong woon? crane for fark? NTUC fairprice, cdg is not just there to do business hor, in time of trouble, like the recent exercise of cdg on community awareness which they closed their main office, for fark? all because of the need to be wary of when thing goes wrong, govt take over.
So if hyflux that deal with water decided to stop all operation in singapore, pack and leave this country in time of war? singapore water resources become a problem, if Power supply decided being private.. pack up and off all generators in senoko and jurong, leave this country..how? limpeh fark half way all black out...lols..joke aside..The key word here is again, CONTROL
Brother ah, brother....
Hyflux never ever control our nation water supply leh....
That's why I say don't xam ba lang put every companies together.....
What you say I agree as a whole but not to certain individual private company.....
