So your Gross total working hour is 44 x 52 => 2288 Hours
Minus ( 11 Days~HL + 10 Days~Al + 7 Days MC ) x 8 Hours = 224 Hour
Your annual net working hours 2288 - 224 = 2,064 Hrs.
Your annual income 12 Months Plus 13th Month Bouns = $4,500 x 13 = > $58,500/=
Your hourly rate is $58,500 / 2064 Hrs => $28.35 Per Hour.
Uncle is a TD, If I want to make monthly net $4,500, I must work 12 Hours Solid OTR.
My Annual net working hours is 12 x 365 => 4,380 Hours.
My Net annual income is 12months x $4,500 => $54,000/=
My hourly rate is $54,000 / 4,380 Hrs => $12..33
You have CPF, I dun have.
Your official holiday is pay, My official holiday still have to pay rental.
You on leave dun need to any money, I "on leave" still have to pay rental.
You sick and consult doctor dun need to pay any money,

So u see is it really worth it?now I am suffering fr health problems, high blood pressure, diabetes, bulging tummy, no sex life, no exercise, not enough sleep, botak and white hair, wrinkle skin and watery eyes!

Bro, first and foremost, in a hardcore capitalist country like Singapore, most would tell you, hello, nobody owe you a living, nor does anyone owe you a job. That you hv to take it, as TD, you must learn to swallow your own saliva with dignity, otherwise you will not be cut as a TD of Singapore. -

20 years ago, a CPA accountant will be earning 10k (bearing in mind the inflation thru the years will be 30k today) and become a big shot very fast, today, whole street are full of them,same goes to taxi drivers, abt 30 years ago and beyong, taxi drivers are real bosses, smlj LTA or companies also dun have, and only a few of them, because only few can afford to buy a car.
Today, the street is full of them. But on a pathetic basis of having to rent out a cab.
If we take TD vs Working Class, there is only one common similarity, and that is we are all in a way working for others first before shelf.
We may not enjoy those benefit that working class enjoyed, but there is a trade off, for them is 9 to 6 or 8 to 5 working under more stricter regime, ours is own time, own target, own decision and own desire.
I guess every TD on the road would had considered this trade off before becoming a TD, and then after that, start to grumble about why others have this and we, TD, do not have, but you have to be serious that you go to defu lane, sign and chop with lau chio bu and hired a cab out, you can alway, go chicken farm and work as a worker.
Ho tann or bo ho tann is a very individualistic issue, and the truth is, as long as you are happy with what you are doing, ho tann or bo ho tann is secondary to any man on the street. Because nobody would like to hold a job full of unhappiness, stress, demanding and keep seeing fcuk up boss faces who know nut about the job you are doing.

Brother, to be frank, what is 10k today, not to mention 10 years later. Recently the govt had raise the income ceiling to 12k and below then you are eligible to take a HDB flat, meaning only 12k and below are consider lower income group, so what is 10k, still hv to struggle.The actual net earning of each one of us is not about the salary or the day taking, to get the actual net, you have to take in the expenditure such as cost of living, bills and your ways of spending
You can earn 10k, but tian tian go tiananmen, 1 night 1k, you still end up borrowing from me, you can earn 4k,and be modest, eat teochew porridge, call cheap pros or PCC, thrift here and there, you can end up richer than a 10k pay man.
Therefore in conclusion, as I alway said, seek the middle way. If 10 years from now, you are still driving taxis, that to me, life is real bad, you should be relaxing playing with your grand child and end your twilight years with good moment with your loves one and family, still peng steering??

Accountancy is very much saturated in Singapore, no matter how you look on it, nearly every business courses offer accountancy modules, and from here it is up to individual to pursue CPA, diploma or degree, and most end up working as auditors for PCCW, limpeh also accountant but end up in toilet PCC..nabey.Ttoday, especially singapore accountant are very much well sought by China firms and some asian developing economy firms, why?
because singaporean accountant is reputated for clean and prudent financial reports, so much so that bosses of these firms like to engage singapore accountants so as check and balance for them and at the same time ensure his employees and subordinates is not corrupted. That is one niche point for Singaporeans, the only problem is singaporeans do not like to travel and work in overseas, if so, they can get good salary

ct �兄，if ur Kai Kai is an auditor in one of the Big 4, then no different from TD now lah. No day no night type. Those Big 4 auditors doing annual audits on my company, CNY eve oso work until 12 am. But, after 10 years he becomes a partner in the firm, then different story lah. TD after 10 years still a TD. It is a job, living hand to mouth, not a career.
He is a CPA, can set up his own accounting firm later on or become a CFO. We have our street directory, they have the FRS. Only difference is we must take short cuts, they cannot. Haha.

Last time, in the morning around 9-10am, I like to queue at Hong Leong Building(use to call John Hancock) taxi stand....
Although is a taxi stop, but bo chap la....
Hopefully can kanna those swee OL auditors, very easy to identify, sling lap top, carry thick files, water bottles.....

Our Cheng Hu always compared us with Japan and Ang Mo (USA / UK).
Dun know when our Taxi Fare will like Tokyo or London.
( Maybe 2020 or 2030 or 。。。。。。。。。never )And our fellow citizen will treat us like the Japanese and Ang Mo respect their cabby.

Distance can be like from MBS to Changi Airport....
