LTA to install lifts at 17 pedestrian overhead bridges

The Land Transport Authority (LTA) has called tenders to install lifts at 17 existing pedestrian overhead bridges in areas such as Boon Lay Way and Serangoon Central.
In January, Transport Minister Lui Tuck Yew had announced that the LTA will install lifts at 40 overhead bridges islandwide. The 17 are the first batch of 40 to be retrofitted.
In a statement, the LTA said the installation of lifts "is part of efforts to further enhance accessibility to our transport infrastructure, especially for the less mobile". Construction will begin early next year and the lifts will be progressively completed from 2016.
The LTA will announce the locations of the remaining overhead bridges by early next year.

Cannot stand those that charge like a ram towards escalators once train doors open and knock everyone in the way like bowling pins.

Is installing escalator bridge cheaper or install a lift cheaper?....

Of course a lift is more expensive, but like lau char bor mod said, if lift, so many take, alway full, escalator tho less expensive, but all can travel, the problem is when some si gina go press the red button, whole escalator stopped, then have to climb up, knn, the stair up is no joke, very high step...peh until limpeh hey hey chuan
