Cabby Mohd Yusri, 30, was driving along Jurong Gateway Road at about 7.50pm last night when he saw white smoke in front of him.
He thought it was just exhaust from the cars in front.
But when other motorists kept honking at him, he figured something was wrong with the SMRT taxi and immediately got out, turning off the engine.
It turned out that the other motorists had seen flames licking the undercarriage of his taxi and were trying to warn him.

When that dream bubble go burst....
Than they will be back to reality and start to look for job....
Young drivers mostly drive as tho there is no speedometer, odometer and also no temperature guage and does not even know what those blinking sign is all about. Never check engine, water level, cooling level, oil level...
ya lar see how long stamina last.
taxi driving is not 100m race. Its marathon. long term running.
Anyone got photo from last night (wed) spectacular accident on north bridge road between 3 cab, 2 chevy and 1 sonata? Heard fantastic
Today car is so expensive, a typical men in 30s can hardly effort it, not to mention their high spending lifestyle, and those who started to get marry and build a family, cannot even think of it. So for most of these youngs, to have the best of both world, freedom + a Car, they go into taxi driving in a naive state.
A car then can ferry his family and relative during hari raya, cny or deevapli etc, thereafter he would had to chiong all the way to make up the losses or cover rentals, as such, the car might miss the maintenance period and these young chaps tends to take a car like his house TV, no need to bother so much. There is a reason for those indicator like temp guage to be put there in your dash board. Any flick across the half way mark, engine is damn hot
Fire started from undercarriage. Could be oil leakage getting onto the hot exhaust..
Nope, if so exhaust will be like a rocket.
I gather most is electrical burnt, from fuse to wiring.
Uneven distribution of current can also be the cause.
Like some taxis, the rear or headlight somehow like to blow off, sometime ok, sometime goes dim, some keep changing bulb, service men fed up, use a higher Amp fuse and so on.
In the auto market, there are many product that help to stablise the current with more equal distribution
The most Jia-Lat case is the one in CTE Tunnel
Whole Blue cab become WHITE
