Cat deaths: felines were found dead of unnatural causes

SINGAPORE - The recent spate of cat deaths at Pasir Ris Park has raised the alarm among cat lovers, animal welfare groups and the authorities.
Nine cats have been confirmed dead, one is still missing and another has severe liver damage.
Investigations are ongoing and the Cat Welfare Society has appealed for people to come forward with information.
Under Singapore's Animal and Birds Act, those found guilty of animal cruelty can be jailed for up to 12 months, fined up to $10,000 or both.
The latest incidents are not the first time that unnatural cat deaths have occurred in Singapore.
1. February 2015
Five cats were found dead of unnatural causes in Redhill in a span of two months, including a kitten which was believed to have been abused on Valentine's Day.
Called Tong Tong, it was seen alive and well earlier that day, before it turned up dead with blood pooling near its mouth.
Many animal lovers took to social media to express their outrage and a post on the incident by the Cat Welfare Society went viral with more than 2,000 shares and more than 800 comments.
2. January 2015
A kitten was found dead in a Telok Blangah carpark with its throat slit, along with another dead cat lying just several metres away.
They were chanced upon by a family on the way to breakfast at a coffee shop near Mount Faber Green.
The family decided to take photos and report the case to the Singapore Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA).
3. September 2014
A cat bleeding from its mouth and legs was found in the loading bay of a Jurong West HDB block.
A passer-by reported that it had been thrown from the fourth storey. No culprit could be spotted or identified.
4. January 2013
A cat was allegedly flung to its death from Block 4, Marsiling Road.
Marsiling residents said they heard a loud thud and the footsteps of someone running away before they discovered the dead cat.
The incident occurred less than a month after two kittens were found dismembered in an HDB common corridor in Chong Pang.
5. Ongoing
Since 2011, there have been at least 50 cases of cat abuse in and around the Housing Board estate across from the Golden Mile Complex.
This prompted animal lover Anthony Hong to launch www.savebeachroadcats.com on Sept 14 last year to raise awareness and appeal for information. His site details where and when several of the dead cats were found, along with grisly photos.
In August last year, the carcass of a grey cat, with blood coming from its mouth, was found at Block 9, North Bridge Road.

Is there any way that I can request a cat group adopt some stray cats living at the void decks of Woodlands St 82/83. Am looking after the community garden that is jointly adopted by Woodlands Zone 2 RC and Evergreen Secondary, and the cats loitering the area are a nuisance yet my parents object that I bring them home..
