most cats hate water..
they spend most of their time grooming themselves..
Yeah in an indoor setting, where chemicals like pesticides, detergents etc etc all will get into the fur of the cat, especially when you leave it roaming around... Especially in hot weather singapore some more.. Wouldn't want the cat to lick that all up right?
when u have an indoor pet cat, u should try to keep away all those harmful chemicals away from the kitty..
Actually i dont have a pet cat :D Just wanna hear if cat owners here give their cats a bath :)
Long hair cats need to be washed at least once every month.
Short hair cats, actually never need to be washed at all. Wash only when they are dirty. Or if they have white furs, and they are looking dirty.
The most important thing is to calm them down, with plenty of coaxing. Prepare your towels, hair dryer, and shampoo before hand. Use warm water, cold water is shocking to them. Their body is small and they lose body heat fast and will start shivering. They could easily get sick.
Wet, shampoo, rinse, quickly, and then towel dry. Then blow dry with warm air. All them time you must, be calming the cat down with your voice.
i know how to chase a cat up in a tree
BTW, once you have bathe the cat, and the next time you prepare your paraphernalia, the cat will know, and will go into hiding.
I think the best way is to bathe the cat when its just a tiny kitten. Let the kitten remember it as a pleasant experience and the cat will soon be the one asking for baths each time..
Bathing is a human thing, imposed on the pets.
Wash the pets only when they are dirty, should be sufficient.
Small kittens, or pupies, is a definite no, no.

wishful thinking.
I'm curious as to how to go about bathing stray cats with dirty coats. The hot water thing could be a little difficult as I can't bring them into my home. =\
