Hi,
I'm doing renovation for my friend and she has 2 cats.
What should I take into considerations when designing the place?
Any materials I must avoid?
Thank you in advance for your valuable suggestions.
Oops, this may be too late, but anyway, a friend of mine designed her window grilles and gate with a narrower space in between the grilles so that an adult cat would not be likely to squeeze itself out.
In most cases, a happy house cat is unlikely to want to go out, so the narrower grilles would just be a deterrent.
It's also good to have a door to the kitchen in case they want to keep the cats out of it for some reason.
Other things to consider: try to avoid having surfaces with rough textures which cats seem to like to rub their paws or claws on, e.g. textured wall surfaces (with tiny bits of rocks - forgot what it's called), and textured sofa covers.
Try to avoid having little nooks and corners (like behind the tv or electrical applicances) where the cat can hide, if you don't want to spend time hunting for your cat who likes to play hide-and-seek.
ps: I have 2 10-mth young lovely cats for adoption - both were rescued and are healthy and sterilised. Pls PM me if anyone is interested.
