Hmmmm.. it could be some idiot touches the kittens and the Mother cat jus leave them alone to die. You cannot touch kittens when it's still very small de..Originally posted by AbstractArt:Heard from a very trusted friend of mine who reared many cats, including a couple of dogs.
On one of his cat feeding rounds, he stumbled upon this pregnant female (obviously) cat. My friend immediately took a mental note to remind himself to include this feline in his daily set dinner around the blocks.
A few weeks later, the cat was nowhere to be seen.
Another week pass, he heard a soft mew during one of his daily round and saw the same cat, delivered but weak. My friend places the food and it ate voraciously.
A week or two later, he found the cat wondering around... searching for its kittens... which is nowhere to be found. After some time of searching and findings, he concluded the following:
1. The kittens were placed in a side drain alley
2. Whenever it rains, the mother cat would carry one by one to a safe place
3. Whenever the mother forage for food, the kittens were left alone
Thus...
The litter were killed when the rain comes heavily and at least one was washed away. Secondly, whenever the mum was away, rats would come and drag off one of the kittens, easy meal.
In the end, all the kittens were gone.

The next time it was pregnant, my friend brought it home and gave it a warm box(I think). Now it is a happy mother of a wonderful litter. FINALLY!
more likely than not, his conclusion abt the rain washing the kittens away is correct. Have seen 1 or 2 cases like that in my old neighbourhood.Originally posted by aiyo!:Hmmmm.. it could be some idiot touches the kittens and the Mother cat jus leave them alone to die. Kittens shouldn't be touched when they're young?
Are they like hamsters then?
And i tell you, someone needs to do something about the rats in Singapore. They're getting fat... and big!
Maybe we can start training strays to be mousers...
Time to start up a training routine care bear ^_^Originally posted by care bear:ha ha.. reading your post, Ihave a funny story to share...
I live on the ground floor and have to open the back door and walk around the corner of my apts to throw the rubbish...normally, one of my cats will follow me on the walk...Picasso...
so we did this same routine yesterday night.. Picasso was walking infront of me... and there was a big fat oily rat there nibbling on some rubbish....you would think that the cat would run to it and try and catch it right???
the rat ran towards us and Picasso ran away!!! he sped into the house and hid in one corner!!! lousy cat, leave me alone and defenseless against the rat!!
