NO supermarket dry food..that's terrible. And IAMS isnt that good either. Try Nutro, Felidae, Natural Balance.Originally posted by Lingos:Any particular brand of catfood??

Is hairball food really necessary??
really? i feed my ryy whiskas canned food - he loved the ocean platter - mixed with dry biscuits...Originally posted by Lingos:Yeah i know..
Snowy got crystals from Friskies and Whiskas rubbish.
Another cat i knew was fed Whiskas singles all the time and she got crystals too. Bloody things is so bad for them.
Now i only give her Hills dry food. Seems like that's all she likes now. Much better cos it's not wet, stinky and icky when she doesn't finish it.

what's "crystals" in cats? how'd you know if the cat has it? is it dangerous?
*panic*
Yeah she looks much better after pulling the plug on supermarket brands.Originally posted by hotchilli:hehe some cats are so greedythey'll eat anything. my cat loves potato chips, but its too salty for her..,
Hill's is a good brand so stick to it if your cat's thriving. You can tell with her coat, and her size if it's doing well.
I don't give my cats hairball prevention..actually the food is simply 'oilier' so that the hairball can be spitted out more easily? After winter they shed alot of hair so I think they started gettin hairballs but were fine after that. If ur cat doesn't have problems vomitting hairballs then it doesn't need the special food.
hehhe.. is your cat very fluffy? Mine is just the normal moggy.Originally posted by care bear:Yah...some cats very greedy one.......
The hairball food ... It seems to work for my cats...even with combing evryday, they used to throw up hairballs every week.... after the hairball food was introduced its been cut down by alot....very rarely now.

It's crystals in the urine. It's when they try to pee but can't...and just sit sadly at the litter box for like 10 mins. Then there's blood in their urine. Poor baby..the vet had to take a urine sample god it was ugly. She was poked left right and centre.
Yeah poor snowy.Originally posted by neuros:*ouch*
